🙋🏻♀️Did you know? 📈As an industry intermediary, the Council adds value to the tech ecosystem by providing relevant and informative data and research about the tech workforce, tech trends, and the newest technologies. 🔊On February 20th, the Council collaborated with the Alfred Lerner College of Business & Economics at University of Delaware and TEKsystems for a Special Black History Month session titled, Delaware’s Tech Workforce & The Impacts of AI on the Labor Market as part of the Lerner Diversity Council Speaker Series. 💻We highlighted relevant data from our Tech Data Dashboard (a members-only resource), Tech Data Fact Sheets (available to the public), and several research reports. We routinely share this type of information in our monthly Tech IT Out newsletter so make sure to subscribe. 💡Here are a few notable takeaways from the presentation: ✔️There are ~19K tech workers in Delaware ✔️Women comprise only 30% of Delaware’s tech workforce ✔️49% of tech workers in Delaware identify as non-white ✔️Computer science, software engineering, AWS, python, AI, agile, cloud computing, automation, and durable skills are in high demand ✔️Workers believe AI makes their jobs easier but are concerned about displacement ✔️AI is not replacing most jobs, but it is changing how work gets done and who gets hired The two most powerful messages the Council shared were that AI is nothing without authentic human intelligence and while diversity, equity, and inclusion is facing a backlash—at the Tech Council of Delaware, we are committed to progress and everyone is welcome here! 👏🏼Thank you to Anu Sivaraman, Gina Burzynski, Grace Sacchetti, and John Lullen for inviting the Council to share helpful tech insights with Lerner Dean Oliver Yao, professors, students, and alumni! #tech #Delaware #data #trends #education #research #ai
