📢 This #HPVAwarenessDay, Know the Facts Did you know? HPV vaccination plus regular screening offers optimal protection against cervical and anal cancers. At Texas Oncology, we champion prevention. The HPV vaccine (recommended for children 12-13) protects both males and females from multiple cancer types. Remember: Screening remains vital as the vaccine doesn't cover all high-risk strains. Texas Colon and Rectal Specialists—part of Texas Oncology—is one of DFW's few providers of High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA) for anal cancer prevention. Act now: Talk to your doctor about HPV vaccination and staying current with cancer screenings. Prevention is our strongest weapon against cancer. #HPVAwareness #TexasOncology #CancerPrevention

"Early detection of bile duct cancer presents significant challenges, as symptoms typically manifest only in advanced stages," explains Lokesh Bathla, M.D. FACS of Texas Oncology Surgical Specialists–San Antonio Medical Center and San Antonio Northeast. While no definitive prevention methods exist, Dr. Bathla emphasizes that maintaining overall health, moderating alcohol consumption, and eliminating tobacco use can significantly reduce risk factors. Dozens of Texas Oncology physicians, leadership, and team members visited the capitol for Texas Oncology Advocacy Day last week to engage with lawmakers and advocate for the needs and rights of cancer patients. Through meaningful conversations, our team championed advancements in cancer research, preventative screenings, access to quality treatment and leading-edge therapies, and policies that support community-based care for patients and their families. We shared our support for bills that restrict industry tactics that delay care, expand prostate cancer screening coverage, enhance patient quality of life and wellbeing, and address emerging issues such as AI regulation. Together, we strive to foster a future where every person battling cancer receives the support and care they deserve. #TexasOncology
