When it comes to health equity, the numbers tell a powerful story: 💰 Economic Insecurity: Over 21 million Americans aged 65+ live on incomes below 200% of the poverty level, struggling to afford basic needs. 📖 Health Literacy: Only 12% of adults in the U.S. qualify as "health literate" — or have the skills to make informed decisions about their health. 🏥 Rural Health Care Access: While 20% of Americans live in rural areas, fewer than 10% of physicians practice there, creating significant care gaps. 👶 Maternal and Infant Health Costs: Preterm births cost an average of $480,000 in care. Improving the gestational period by just one week could save $178,000 per baby in their first year.
