The 5-year relative survival rate for #pancreaticcancer (all stages combined) remains at 13%, reported in American Cancer Society's Cancer Facts & Figures 2025 yesterday. While we are hopeful for new advances on the horizon, we recognize the need to do better for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. 185 people projected to be diagnosed today—and every day this year—are counting on us for the possibility of more tomorrows. 💜 NOW is the time to fuel breakthrough research - donate today! www.lustgarten.org/donate #ResearchIsFundamental

On March 15, US Congress approved a stopgap funding bill, slashing Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) by 57%. What this means ➡️ We can expect decreases in innovation and slowed progress in the fight against cancer. The CDMRP fills research gaps by funding high impact, high risk and high gain projects that other agencies may not venture to fund. In FY20, the U.S. Congress established the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program (PCARP) in the DoD appropriation with a subsidy of $6M. Since then, over $66M in congressional appropriations have been committed to #pancreaticcancer research through CDMRP grants. 💜 YOUR SUPPORT IS CRITICAL TO THE CONTINUATION OF PANCREATIC CANCER RESEARCH FUNDING! 📢 Make your voice heard! We encourage our community to join the movement to preserve critical research funding. Please consider contacting your representative in Washington DC and sharing your story and/or why funding research is important to you. 👐 Donate today! As public funding outlooks remain unpredictable, particularly for rare diseases regardless of their lethality, private financing has never been more crucial. Jack Statfeld and his father, Brian, are lacing up for the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon this weekend with Team Lustgarten, running in honor of a family friend who is a pancreatic cancer survivor. 🎽 When asked about his commitment to Lustgarten beyond this event, Jack shared “I will stay involved because it feels so fulfilling knowing I’m trying to make a difference for someone else who is struggling with such a life-threatening disease. There’s a ripple effect; the money I raise could potentially be the funds that go toward prolonging or hopefully even saving somebody’s life.” 💜 We can't wait to cheer Jack, his dad, and all of Team Lustgarten on at the race! @NYRR #CommunityIsPower https://lnkd.in/eVMzvZHE
