It’s all fun and games until someone gets lost on a 14er.

Teambuilding isn’t really a success if you leave your colleague behind and search and rescue needs to be called out. https://lnkd.in/gc_g4e7E

August is full of opportunities to build your #companyculture. Here are a couple of ideas to get things rolling for you and your team: To Do: PTO audit: With five months left in the year, ensure your people are taking the PTO they have earned – encourage them to get a vacation on the books before the end of the year. Keeping promises: Did you promise things to your team during their annual review? Like training or mentorship? Revisit that and make sure you are on track before the Q4 circus comes to town. Holidays: 8/2: International Beer Day, National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, National Water Balloon Day. (Make HR’s day and celebrate all three) 8/4: National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day 8/10: National Bowling Day 8/16: National Hawaiian Shirt Day (Shout out to Bill Lundburg) Service Opportunity: Donate school supplies or adopt a teacher. August is also National Wellness Month, so it might be a good time to reboot any wellness initiatives that have been forgotten or gone stale. Let’s go get those steps...and maybe an ice cream sandwich.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of people who wish to scam the vulnerable, including college grads who just want to find a job.

"Students, soon-to-be graduates and recent college grads are especially vulnerable to scammers because of their comfort transacting so much of their lives online and their relative inexperience in the job market, according to watchdog-agency officials and career counselors." #Jobs #collegegrads #newgrads #scams

The story doesn't end with Han frozen in carbonite. It ends at a rave with stone-age teddy bears. Keep moving forward. You'll find your tribe.

For my candidate who let me know over the weekend that the company that had been interviewing her for two months sent her the generic rejection email that she didn't get the job: It sucks. I know. But have faith. Good things are coming. #Jobs #Jobseekers #MondayMotivation #Riveting

I'm glad you (and I, for that matter) are still here.

I've been going through some social posts I made four years ago - when we were all stuck in lockdown and the world was ending. My head was in some weird places, as I am sure we all were. The world didn't end, and we all came out changed on the other side. Just keep moving forward. #MondayMotivation #Riveting

Yes, a college education correlates with higher lifetime earnings. But that is not always the case. Learning a high-demand trade like welding, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, CNC machining, can provide a great living and get you out of the cube farm/open office hellscape "knowledge workers" face.

Not every pathway for Gen Z will lead to college, yet that is often the only message being broadcast. I've coached many new grads who earn a degree and hope a vocation will magically show up to provide a living and a purpose. A better path for some might be to learn a high-paying trade. https://lnkd.in/eTwmRKBv
