What happens when career plans get divinely redirected? Major Dieter Zimmerer's professional journey offers powerful insight.
After establishing himself as a Registered Nurse in Germany with a promising hospital career, Zimmerer made what he calls a "seismic shift" from "saving lives to saving souls" by answering God's call to Salvation Army officership.
His international service spans 21 years across four countries—requiring him to develop entirely new skillsets. "During our times overseas, we never had any employees like here in the U.S.—it was just us. So, I became an electrician, plumber, gardener, maintenance worker, and several more unlikely duties," he shares.
Through natural disasters, camp rebuilding, and ministry challenges, the Zimmerers have witnessed hundreds of lives transformed. His story demonstrates the unexpected ways professional adaptability and faith can intersect.
