  • How can we equip our friends and colleagues with practical ways to serve helpfully in their communities? 🤝 The Salvation Army Southern Territory's Mission & Cultural Ministries department is launching a new monthly initiative highlighting ways people can serve others around them. This month's service ideas focus on practical ways to serve helpfully in your community through simple actions like: • Organizing prayer walks through neighborhoods • Creating snack bags for youth programs • Gifting items to friends and neighbors • Sponsoring event registrations for newcomers These accessible service opportunities can be implemented by churches, businesses, community groups, and individuals looking to make a meaningful difference where they live and work. We invite you to share these ideas with your network and encourage a culture of service. Follow along with #serveALLFORJESUS to see more ideas next month!

  • How does The Salvation Army's mission transcend cultural and language barriers? Our Southern Territory leaders recently witnessed this firsthand in Angola. Commissioners Kelly and Donna Igleheart spent time with Salvationists in Luanda, Angola, sharing leadership principles at officers' councils while experiencing the impact of our mission in diverse settings - from the joyful students at Colégio William Booth to a humble corps setting where one officer faithfully ministers to their community. Their visit culminated in a powerful Sunday worship service at Corimba Corps that demonstrated how faith unites hearts beyond language differences. We celebrate the Angola Territory's commitment to being united, connected from the roots up, and shining Christ's light for all to see. #TheSalvationArmy #tsaALLFORJESUS 🔗 https://lnkd.in/epFeyFJH

  • Are you addressing physical and spiritual hunger in your community this Lenten season? "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35 At The Salvation Army, we believe in nourishing both body and soul. Just as bread sustained life in Jesus' day, we recognize that physical and spiritual nourishment go hand in hand in creating wholeness. We invite you to partner with your local Salvation Army corps this week. Volunteer at a food distribution or prepare a meal for a family experiencing food insecurity. As you serve, you'll have the opportunity to share not just physical bread but hope and connection. How will your organization address hunger in your community this week? #serveALLFORJESUS #InHisFootsteps

  • How a broken office supply revealed a leadership communication principle. "Better to be surgical in what we say than to try digging out those misplaced grains of sand." - Lt. Colonel Allen Satterlee When sand damaged his keyboard, it sparked this reflection on leadership communication: our words, like those stubborn grains, can become lodged in places where damage can't be undone. Even when difficult conversations are necessary, precision matters. How are you being intentional with your communications today? #loveALLFORJESUS 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eZyyW6CV

  • How do simple acts like sharing a meal create meaningful community connections? This week, The Salvation Army Tulsa Citadel Corps engaged in community outreach through their "Nite Lites" program. This multi-generational ministry effort allowed their team to connect with neighbors through Frito chili pies, music, games, and meaningful conversation. More than just providing food and activities, this outreach created opportunities for genuine connection - through conversation, prayer, and fellowship - embodying their mission to share Christ's love in tangible ways. The Salvation Army of Tulsa, Oklahoma continues building relationships and serving the Tulsa community. #TheSalvationArmy #tsaALLFORJESUS

  • What happens when career plans get divinely redirected? Major Dieter Zimmerer's professional journey offers powerful insight. After establishing himself as a Registered Nurse in Germany with a promising hospital career, Zimmerer made what he calls a "seismic shift" from "saving lives to saving souls" by answering God's call to Salvation Army officership. His international service spans 21 years across four countries—requiring him to develop entirely new skillsets. "During our times overseas, we never had any employees like here in the U.S.—it was just us. So, I became an electrician, plumber, gardener, maintenance worker, and several more unlikely duties," he shares. Through natural disasters, camp rebuilding, and ministry challenges, the Zimmerers have witnessed hundreds of lives transformed. His story demonstrates the unexpected ways professional adaptability and faith can intersect.
