  • Today we announce a new innovation in semiconductor analysis, the Vulcan™ Automated Lab. The system integrates robotic handling with AI-enhanced instruments and is designed to boost productivity, increase yield and reduce operating costs for semiconductor manufacturers. This technology helps address the rapid evolution and miniaturization of semiconductor technology, enabling manufacturers to meet the growing global demand for advanced semiconductors, which power everything from smartphones to electric cars. Learn more about how, with the Vulcan Automated Lab, manufacturers can more quickly get atomic-scale transmission electron microscopy (TEM) metrology data to increase the speed, accuracy and efficiency of production: thermofisher.com/Vulcan

  • Irish folklore claims it’s possible to find gold at the end of the rainbow. But how do you know if gold is pure? Jewelers, gold retailers and resellers face this question daily due to the rise of plated or counterfeit precious metals. Using our handheld analyzer that leverages X-ray fluorescence, any user can simply point and shoot high energy X-rays at the material in question to accurately test the purity and chemistry of the sample. By comparing these results with pure metals, counterfeits or impurities are quickly identified, avoiding costly mistakes of undervaluing or misrepresenting their products. Learn more about how our technology can help ensure your pot of gold is real if you’re lucky enough to find it, and happy St. Patrick’s Day! https://lnkd.in/gfxmB6mJ

  • The performance of next-generation batteries that power everything from consumer electronics to electric vehicles can be significantly enhanced by optimizing the texture of metals used to store energy, according to a new published study from Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Researchers were able to overcome a significant hurdle by using two advanced microscopy techniques that enabled highly detailed texture analysis of soft metals, says Thermo Fisher’s Zhao Liu, Ph.D., a co-author on the study. “Where others see challenges, I see opportunities. This is what makes me rare.” Meet Brady Chan, 14, who lives with spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disease affecting the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system and voluntary muscle movement. His mom, Mimi, global market development marketing manager, shares how the proverb of “it takes a village” took on greater meaning once Brady was diagnosed. “Moving from the patient side to the research side at Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced me to the dedicated village working to change the lives of those with rare diseases,” Mimi said. “Through my work, I hope my son sees the passion my colleagues and I share in building a future where rare diseases no longer limit anyone’s quality of life – and that this continues to drive his hope for a brighter future.” Learn more about our commitment to rare disease research. » https://bit.ly/4bmDTx1 #RareDiseaseDay #ShareYourColors #ShareYourColours
