  • "Leading the Way" means recognizing that youth in foster care are the experts of their own lives. Our role is to follow their lead—providing resources, removing barriers, and creating opportunities that honor their agency and amplify their voices. This approach transforms how we deliver services. Rather than prescribing solutions, we partner with young people to identify their goals and support their unique journeys. We've built our programs on the principle that sustainable change comes when youth drive their own success stories. This campaign will culminate in our first Champions Week of Giving (March 31-April 4), which includes the annual Champions fundraising event on April 1. Thanks to our generous matching pool donors, one time AND recurring donations are eligible for either a 1:1 or 2:1 match! • Every student in foster care deserves a champion who can navigate both education and child welfare systems. That's why Treehouse's Educational Advocacy program has specialized advocates directly in DCYF offices across Washington state! This public-private partnership between Treehouse, Office of Superintendent Public Instruction (OSPI), and Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is changing the way students in foster care are supported. When systems work together, youth succeed. In the last program year: ✅ 100% of youth served have supportive adults identified to advocate for them ✅ 44% connected to academic supports they needed ✅ 35% received improved special education accommodations ✅ School transfers prevented or expedited for 210 students last year Each school change can cost a student up to 6 months of academic progress. That's why our advocates work with schools, caseworkers, caregivers and parents to remove barriers and create pathways to educational success. • For youth in foster care, maintaining connections to cultural identity isn't just about heritage—it's a powerful way to build confidence and self-esteem. Through Just-in-Time Funding, Treehouse ensures these important connections are supported and celebrated. Our cultural identity support includes: - Traditional regalia for youth participating in tribal ceremonies - Quinceañera celebration expenses - Cultural attire and accessories Research consistently shows that strong cultural identity correlates with higher self-esteem, greater resilience, and improved mental health outcomes. By supporting these connections, we're helping youth develop the confidence they need to navigate challenges and pursue their goals. • Treehouse believes the young people experiencing foster care are the experts of their own lives. "Leading the Way" is not just this year’s Champions fundraising event theme—it’s a reflection of our mission to honor their leadership, agency, and potential. On April 1, we will come together with a clear goal: to secure vital funds to provide direct support to over 6,000 young people in foster care across Washington state. During the event, guests will be asked to make a donation, with a suggested minimum of $300—that's just $25/month if you join Treehouse's Builder’s Club for one year. We welcome gifts of all sizes, and all gifts above $300 will be doubled! Register as a table captain to host a table just your size. Or register as a guest to be seated with fellow Treehouse community members.
