Sustainable pathways out of poverty.
About us
Trickle Up partners with women living in extreme poverty to drive social and economic inclusion and promote sustainable livelihoods. We drive large-scale change by partnering with governments, global institutions, and local organizations. Trickle Up was founded in 1979 at a time when "trickle down” economics was the conventional wisdom. We watched the poor getting poorer while the rich benefited from this approach. Trickle Up founders Glen and Mildred Robbins Leet knew from their experience that nothing empowers an individual to achieve their dreams more than the trust and encouragement of another human being. They put into practice what their experience had taught them: investing in individuals at the grassroots level is the most powerful antidote to extreme poverty. Over 38 years later, Trickle Up continues to be a critical vehicle for the social and financial empowerment of women living in extreme poverty. Trickle Up focuses on the toughest challenges in global poverty alleviation: to reach the poorest, most vulnerable, isolated people and create trajectories towards financial independence. We have lifted over one million people worldwide - particularly women, people with disabilities, refugees, and indigenous people - out of extreme poverty and into a better quality of life. We invest in people. We bolster communities. We champion power over poverty.

#InclusiónFinanciera #MujeresIndígenas #EmpoderamientoEconómico #DesarrolloSostenible Trickle Up

When women have technology, they gain knowledge, power, and opportunity. 💡📱 Before joining the MPOWERED project in India, Sastri had never even held a mobile phone. But with training on the PoP Livelihoods app, she learned to manage her agriculture🌾, finances 💰, and even access YouTube 🎥 for farming techniques. The PoP Livelihoods app, developed by Trickle Up, equips women with the knowledge and tools to strengthen their livelihoods, make informed financial decisions, and access vital agricultural resources. Now, her vegetable patch and rice paddy don’t just feed her family—they provide income. She dreams of growing her poultry business and owning more land for her sons to inherit. She wants to keep learning 📖 and keep thriving🚀. When women support each other, they rise together 👭✨ When Susan fled Sudan because of war, she faced an uncertain future. But through our #GraduationApproach, she met Jane—a coach who had once walked the same path. 🛤️ Coaching is a key element of the Graduation Approach, providing personalized guidance, mentorship, and encouragement for our participants. Jane didn’t just teach Susan how to generate income 💰—she empowered her to build a better life. 💪 For Jane, coaching became more than just a role—it opened doors to stability and financial independence, allowing her to provide for her family and secure a brighter future. 🏡🌟 📢 Stay tuned for more inspiring stories this Women’s History Month! #PartneringWithWomen #WhenWomenHave #WomensHistoryMonth2025 #IWD2025 #WomensHistoryMonth #EndPoverty #SocialImpact #GenderEquality #coaching #inspiring

On International Women's Day, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that all women have the resources and opportunities to thrive. Because when women succeed, entire communities flourish. 💪 In rural Mexico—especially in Chiapas and Oaxaca—#ExtremePoverty is three times higher than in urban areas. Limited access to credit and formal savings mechanisms keeps many women in cycles of economic dependence. Through our economic inclusion programs and the #GraduationApproach, we’re equipping women with the tools, skills, and financial resources they need to break the cycle of poverty. Our FUERTE project’s impact over the past six years: 📍 9,000 women supported across 151 communities 👩🌾👩💼 📍 236 active savings groups 💰🤝 📍 $8.4 million MXN ($411,000 USD) saved collectively 💵💡 These numbers reflect a powerful truth: When women have the right support, they become the driving force behind equitable and sustainable development. 🌟 Learn more about the FUERTE project and its impact—read our latest blog by Margherita Di Clemente and Alma Alicia Ochoa Moctezuma: https://lnkd.in/g8vkhc_S #PartneringWithWomen #WhenWomenHave #IWD #WomensHistoryMonth2025 #IWD2025 #WomensHistoryMonth #EndPoverty #SocialImpact #GenderEquality #inspiring #FinancialInclusion
