Building our communities for success in school and life is one of our investment priorities and we are proud to partner with organizations who support that. Today, we spotlight partner agency Community Care Connections and its Camp Apple program. Community Care Connections provides programs and services that empower children and adults with disabilities to live more safely and independently in their communities. Their out-of-school-time program, Camp Apple, is an inclusive recreational program providing a safe and supportive space for children of all abilities to continue their journey in developing life skills and social connections. Thank you to Community Care Connections, and all of our partners, helping our communities thrive! #UnitedIsTheWay #ThrivingCommunities

One of United Way’s greatest strengths is bringing people together. Watch as our President & CEO, Bobbi Watt Geer, and Board Chair, Stacy Juchno, discuss how United Way serves as a connector, convener and catalyst in our community. What an incredible time for a great cause at this year’s Charley Family Shop ‘n Save Shopping Spree —a tradition 15 years strong! We cheered on Megan Loughner, MSMOE from Kennametal, which participates in our workplace campaigns. Megan raced through the aisles, gathering more than $800 in nonperishable goods for the Welcome Home Shelter, operated by our partner agency Connect Inc. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success! View the full album: bit.ly/41XldPY. #UnitedIsTheWay #MeetingBasicNeeds

We're shining the spotlight on one of our Community Food Solutions grant recipients, Garfield Community Farm! For the past 15 years, they've been transforming nearly three acres of abandoned urban land into one of Pittsburgh's most productive and vibrant urban farms. Their Food and Knowledge to the People project is creating a community allotment garden and offering workshops that provide fresh produce, food-growing and preservation skills and hands-on mentorship. This initiative empowers individuals and families to grow their own food and become more self-sufficient. Thank you, Garfield Community Farm, and all of our partner agencies, for helping our communities meet their basic needs and thrive.
