One thing is very clear, the mission carried out by federal agencies is only growing in importance and they deserve the right tools to ensure success. At the #FedScoopFedForum, Matthew T. Cornelius, Managing Director of Federal Industry at Workday, led a discussion with Suzette Kent, former Federal CIO, and Kristine Korva, Human Capital Offering Portfolio Leader for Government and Public Services at Deloitte, on how shared services are shaping the federal landscape. Kent outlined key “north stars” for agency leaders in optimizing and modernizing shared services, emphasizing efficiency and reducing costs. Korva shared insights from both government and industry perspectives on modernizing shared service delivery and the key considerations shaping future innovation. The panel also explored the critical roles and skills needed across government and industry to scale secure, modern shared services. They discussed immediate steps agencies can take to upskill the workforce, address talent gaps, and navigate barriers to implementation. Finally, the conversation highlighted AI’s potential to enhance shared services by improving workflows, reducing burdens, and increasing operational efficiency. At the #FedScoopFedForum, Patrick Blair, Chief Revenue Officer at Workday, sat down with Dawn Zimmer, Acting CIO for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and Allison Horn, Global Lead for Talent Transformation at Accenture, to explore the transition to a skills-based workforce in both the public and private sectors. Zimmerman shared how DOE is shifting from point-in-time evaluations to a skills-first approach, leveraging new technologies and modern business practices to ensure its workforce is aligned with evolving mission needs. She also discussed how agencies can use data and analytics to identify skills gaps, align workforce capabilities with strategic objectives, and measure performance in a skills-first model. Horn provided insight into how large enterprises, including Accenture’s 800,000-employee workforce, are adapting to the new skills economy. She highlighted emerging workforce trends, the most in-demand skills, and how technology enables organizations to develop and manage skills at scale. The discussion also covered how federal agencies are connecting workforce skills to key performance metrics and ensuring senior leaders have the necessary insights to report on mission-driven progress with confidence. Eschenbach shared insights from the World Economic Forum, emphasizing the urgency of modernization and AI’s role in skills-based hiring, data-driven decision-making, and efficiency. Martin highlighted Workday’s human-centric AI approach, zero-trust security architecture, and investments in FedRAMP High, IL4, and Top Secret environments to support federal agencies.
