Heroes MAKE America, the veterans workforce initiative of The MI, recently hosted its first Lunch & Learn in partnership with Textron, the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas, and WSU Tech. The event introduced the new Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) training program—designed to help transitioning service members and veterans launch careers in aviation. With the manufacturing sector facing ongoing workforce shortages, this program serves as a strategic bridge between the military and industry, ensuring a steady pipeline of trained professionals. Given Wichita’s deep-rooted ties to both aviation and the military, the event brought together industry leaders, military personnel (active and retired), policymakers, and educators to discuss the program’s impact. This Airframe and Powerplant program will be more than just training—it’s a direct pathway to high-demand aviation maintenance roles, equipping veterans with in-demand skills and a highly sought-after FAA Certification. Through a six-week accelerated course featuring hands-on training, career readiness support, and facility tours, the program ensures a seamless transition from service to skilled aviation careers. Classes begin April 28, 2025. If you’re active duty, a veteran, National Guard, or reservist with an FAA 8610-2 or JSAMTCC form—or a company looking to implement this program—contact [email protected] to learn more. #airframe #powerplant #aviation #FAA #HeroesMAKEAmerica #veterans #transitioningvets #militaryspouses
