Yesterday at the Los Angeles Dodgers' opening home game at Dodgers Stadium, 🏟️ Nichol T. Whiteman, Chief Executive Officer of Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, said fans at Thursday's and tonight's games can participate in a 50/50 raffle, with ticket 🎟️ purchases supporting wildfire recovery efforts. Funds will support the reconstruction of two Dodgers Dreamfields at Altadena's Loma Alta Park and the rebuilding of the Palisades-Malibu YMCA, which burned down in the Palisades Fire. If you are attending tonight’s game, your participation in the raffle can help with our rebuilding efforts of the Palisades-Malibu YMCA! We are grateful for the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation's support, and to everyone helping us continue to serve our Palisades and Malibu communities. On Sunday, we hosted our team members for a Staff Appreciation Event, themed "Vintage Hollywood," at Universal Studios Hollywood! Over 500 staff dined from across the association and enjoyed an evening of fun, awards, and dancing. Yesterday we hosted our Volunteer Recognition Brunch at Universal Studios Hollywood! Over 500+ volunteers and staff came to be recognized for their generous efforts in helping our communities. We shared the impact we made with our fire relief efforts, our general volunteer efforts, and thanked our volunteers for their service. Heads from various departments in our organization shared the significance of volunteering in program areas such as: -Sports & Recreation ⚽️🏀⚾️🏒 -Sleepaway Camp 🏕️ -Youth & Teens 👦👧 -Community Events ❤️ -And more Volunteerism is a key component of driving our mission forward to strengthen our communities. One of the founding members of the San Jose YMCA, Xinia Brenes Jenkins was deeply involved in the Costa Rican Catholic youth movement. The Latin American Confederation of YMCAs reached out to Jenkins for her assistance in instituting a national Costa Rican YMCA. Jenkins's work for the Costa Rican YMCA focused on providing programs for refugees, relief for those affected by housing shortages, and offering vocational skills training for women and agricultural skills training for Costa Rican natives. #WomensHistoryMonth #ymcala #ymca #LosAngeles #Equality #WomenEmpowerment #Shero
