I learn a lot of new ways to do things just by reviewing PRs. Take the opportunity to learn from tour team and save the rubber stamp for something tiny or urgent.

We can understand the power of story telling to generate interest, empathy, intrigue, emotion reading this story by Ernesto Sirolli. Stories laced with humour establishes context and make people care about a topic. Sounds like a hyperbole? Read on to find out 😊  The Italian Ernesto, and his team decided to teach the Zambian people how to grow food as a part of African Aid Initiative by World Bank. They arrived with Italian seeds in southern Zambia.. There was a magnificent, fertile Valley going down to the Zambezi River. They taught the local people how to grow Italian Zucchini and  Tomatoes🍅. Local people showed no interest in doing that. Ernesto and  team were shocked that in such a fertile Valley, people had no interest in tapping into agricultural bounty. Instead of asking them why they werent growing anything, they simply said "Thank God, we're here. Just in the nick of time to save the Zambian people from starvation"  And of course everything in Africa grew beautifully. They ended up growing magnificent 🍅 tomatoes. They couldn't believe they were telling local people "Look how easy Agriculture is"  When the tomatoes were nice, red and ripe, overnight, two hundred hippos came out of the river and they ate everything.  And they said to to Zambians "My God, the hippos!" And the Zambians said "Yes, that's why there is no agriculture here"  As leaders, we need to remind ourselves that we need to study the environment, and have basic curiosity, if its that easy why people are not doing it. In a few communities in North india, the daughter in law is not supposed to do any work for a few days after marriage, they give her special bangles. Simon Sinek, management guru, shared, how few companies mandate that new Comer can't speak in meetings for one whole month and try to understand the culture and observe.  Often it's thought, people are lazy, uninformed and there is a zealous drive to jump into action mode.  Root cause analysis will ensure that efforts doesn't come to a naught.

Differences between slices and maps: Structure: Slices: Ordered, indexable collections of elements of the same type. Maps: Unordered collections of key-value pairs. Access: Slices: Accessed by integer index. Maps: Accessed by key of any comparable type. Size: Slices: Have a length and capacity. Maps: Only have a length (number of key-value pairs). I came across this post and couldn't agree more. Many people, especially senior citizens and those in rural areas, rely on mobile phones primarily for calls and don't require mobile data. Unfortunately, they often end up paying high prices for recharge plans that include unnecessary data. It's high time telecom companies consider launching recharge packs that offer call-only options at a more affordable price. This would greatly benefit those who need basic connectivity without the added cost of data services. However, it also raises significant concerns about the potential risks of deploying AI systems without stringent safeguards. While many tech giants are focused on monetising their AI advancements, Meta has taken a different approach by offering Llama 3.1 at no cost. They are investing billions in AI, and this latest release underscores the company's commitment to advancing AI technology in an open and accessible manner. Here's the rub - Llama 3.1 is designed to mitigate harmful outputs by default, but users can adjust the model to remove these protections and Meta claims that it matches the intelligence and utility of leading commercial models from companies like OpenAI and Anthropic, making it a formidable competitor in the AI space. Despite the altruistic appearance, Meta's decision to release Llama 3.1 for free is also a strategic move to strengthen its position in the AI research community. Previous versions of Llama have already helped Meta establish a significant presence among AI researchers, developers, and startups. However, it is worth noting that Llama 3.1 is not entirely open source, as Meta imposes restrictions on its use, particularly in commercial products. Despite the excitement surrounding Llama 3.1, there are ongoing concerns about the potential misuse of AI technology. The recent rape and murder of a young trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata on August 9, 2024, brought back painful memories of the tragic loss of my brother, Dr. Dibyendu Kishore Chanda, in 2002. Although the circumstances differ—one being a brutal crime of sexual violence and the other a mysterious death potentially linked to corruption—both incidents reveal systemic failures within healthcare institutions and the pursuit of justice marred by negligence and cover-ups. In my brother’s case, he had taken a job at BP Kedia Hospital in Laboc, Assam, hoping to serve the community and pursue his dreams. However, after exposing corruption in medicine procurement and patient care, he was found dead under suspicious circumstances on June 18, 2002. An autopsy revealed signs of manual strangulation. The investigation was marred by cover-ups and character assassination, with authorities pressuring us to drop the case. No one was held accountable, leaving my family devastated and forced to move on without justice. Similarly, the Kolkata incident involves not just the violent crime but also shocking institutional negligence. The trainee doctor was found dead in a hospital seminar hall, her body showing signs of sexual assault and injuries. Investigations revealed that authorities delayed filing the case, with some officials allegedly tampering with evidence to cover up the crime . As in my brother’s case, it was not just the crime but also the failure of institutions to act swiftly and transparently that compounded the tragedy. Both stories expose disturbing patterns—whether it is an honest individual standing up against corruption or a young woman becoming a victim of horrific violence, the common thread is the betrayal by institutions that are supposed to protect and serve. The cover-ups, delays, and lack of accountability reflect deeper systemic issues, turning these individual tragedies into public failures. These incidents remind us that justice is not just about solving a crime but about holding those in power accountable for their actions—or lack thereof. My brother’s case ended without resolution, and I fear the same could happen in Kolkata unless public pressure and institutional reform push the needle toward justice. While the circumstances differ, both tragedies highlight the urgent need for systemic change. Whether it’s ensuring safety within institutions or preventing corruption, we must learn from these painful stories. These losses should not be in vain—they must serve as a call to action for a more just and accountable system.
