Is the customer always right? As product managers, we’re trained to uncover the true needs of our users, listen empathetically, and quickly adjust our roadmaps to drive growth. This approach often fosters a "consultant" mindset, where we wait for the customer to define their needs. We present all the benefits of our platforms and let them choose what aligns with their vision. But after listening to the podcast below, I'm questioning if that's the best approach. What if, instead, we guided customers based on the strengths of our products and our insights into where the market is headed? Could this strategy be more effective, particularly in the early stages of a market when use cases and Product-Market Fit are still solidifying?

Ramsu Sundararajan: Segment of One at Scale Ramasubramanian (Ramsu) Sundararajan holds a PhD in Machine Learning, and is the Head of R&D at solus.ai, which powers Segment of One personalization. Roles prior to that included Senior Scientist at GE Global Research, and Principal at Sabre Airline Solutions, where he developed some of the original algorithms. Ramsu shares highlights of his journey in AI, with particular focus on personalization in marketing, with insights about how to think about that problem conceptually, including what parts are somewhat easy and which are difficult or tedious. I recall reading many similar articles during the early days of cloud adoption, where there were concerns about cost, latency, utilization, and storage capabilities. Contrary to losing momentum, the growth of AI is accelerating. Every customer I've spoken with in the past few months is not only making additional investments in AI but can already share success stories. The rapid questioning, consolidation, and in some cases, the complete removal of traditional technology purchases, alongside the integration of AI into existing processes, is truly remarkable.

My point of view w.r.t. AI as expressed on CNBC_Awaaz Q1. Will AI take away Jobs !This is the most frequent question I am asked in any public forum or on TV channels during panel discussions. My PoV: 1. Automation is nothing new. For last 25 years I have been doing automation in one form or the other like Testing ( JUnit Test Cases, Selennium ), Deployment ( CI/CD ). GenAI/Agents is just another way of automating things and this time the focus is on Developers, Content Creators ( Text/image/videos). 2. Let us take example from completely different industry viz. Construction Industry (or Automobile Industry). Today building 20 storey building or a huge flyover can be really quick. This is because of help from so many tools and huge crane machines. Number of hands needed to build a building has reduced but that lead to overall cost reduction which lead to exponential growth. And Overall number of people employed in Construction industry for sure has increased many times. Should those builders have shun those machines; or used those machines to have win-win situation for all stakeholders [customers( better quality, on time), labors ( better salaries because of productivity improvements, safer environment), themselves ( more business, do 'more with less')] Bottom line: If we do not constantly strive to improve our productivity ( as humanity ); we cannot dream of doing something much bigger ( like curing cancer , going to Mars ). Q2. Will there be eventually couple of players or multi-players: In my opinion; for generic LLMs/Agents ( which do everything ) eventually we will have few big players, but for niche areas ( e.g. Medical, hospitality ) we will have individual players who will excel in respective domains.
