*** Career Development Update*** Reflecting on a Thought-Provoking Session with the Fall 2024 FourBlock Atlanta Cohort hosted by AIG: This week, FourBlock’s Fall 2024 Atlanta cohort had the privilege of being hosted by AIG for an insightful session focused on the critical aspects of job offer negotiations. The session highlighted that negotiating a job offer goes beyond just salary—it’s also about exploring flexible working hours, professional development opportunities, and other benefits that align with long-term career goals. The class featured presentations and discussions by AIG leaders, including Elizabeth Salogub, @Kyle Cole, Conor Murray, and Regina Gilligan, who shared valuable insights into the company’s culture and opportunities. AIG emphasized their expansion in Atlanta, where they are opening an Innovation Hub that will create 600 new jobs. The AIG team also shared pathways for veterans looking to transition into corporate roles, offering a glimpse into the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. One of the session's highlights was the opportunity for each FourBlock student to present their elevator pitches. The students excelled, so much so that one of the AIG representatives requested a copy of every student’s resume. This is a promising sign that the students are not only mastering the art of job negotiations but also making lasting connections with potential employers. As the class wrapped up, it was clear that many of the students will soon be putting these lessons into practice, negotiating offers, and hopefully joining AIG’s vibrant, inclusive culture.
