📢 New Pay Stub & Pay Statement Requirements Coming Soon! Starting October 1, 2024, Maryland employers must comply with new requirements under the Pay Stub and Pay Statement Law (SB 38, 2023). Here’s what you need to know: 🔸 Written Notice: Employers must provide written notice of rates of pay, paydays, and leave benefits at the time of hire. 🔸 Pay Statements: Employers are now required to provide employees with a written or online pay statement every payday. The statement must include: Employer’s name, address, and contact info Payment date and pay period Hours worked (for non-exempt employees) All rates of pay, bonuses, commissions, etc. Gross and net pay, and a breakdown of deductions ❗️ Penalties: Non-compliance can result in a $500 administrative penalty per employee. New FLSA Overtime Regulations Now in Effect!! As of July 1, 2024, the Department of Labor's revised FLSA overtime regulations are officially in force. This marks a significant change in salary thresholds and overtime exemptions. Key Updates: The salary threshold has increased to $844 per week ($43,888 annually). The threshold for highly compensated employees is now $132,964. Further increases are forecasted in 2025, contingent on court rulings. Mark your calendars now to follow-up on the court rulings at the start of next year. Immediate Actions Required: Review and update your employee classifications ASAP. Adjust salaries or reclassify roles as necessary. Revise timekeeping practices to ensure compliance. Stay proactive, not just compliant.
