Receivers have hourly DELAY COSTS that Logisticians can monetize as wasted human and asset time as well as inventory delay costs because trains with their cargo are not precisely operating to schedule for adbvertized last few miles of expected delivery. To a RR carrier, train delayed might vary from as low as about $250/hour to maybe $1,200 bucks an hour. But to the merchant or warehouse receiving customer, its hourly delay costs when adding up all of its “costs” might look the rail carriers costs look like chump change. It depends. There is for lots of cargo types much more at stake than just a low line-haul rate. I’m betting that folks like Nick Border can help identify these variables for a lot of folks. Good luck Nick. A clear illustration of both why road and rail engineers must work together to secure level crossings / grade crossings, and also crap car driving! My question is "Why are car drivers presented with both a green and a red flashing aspect at the same time in virtually the same place?" Now I'm not going to make excuses for the car drivers lack of observation/skill - but history, direct experience and SO, so many video clips do tend to indicate that drivers make mistakes.
