Amazon’s hosted cloud computing division is making a major financial commitment to expand its infrastructure in Georgia. Amazon Web Services (AWS) intends to invest an estimated $11 billion to support cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies in Georgia, which it expects to create at least 550 new high-skilled jobs and thousands of local construction jobs and positions in the data center supply chain. According to AWS, generative AI is driving increased demand for advanced cloud infrastructure and compute power and its planned investments will support the development of AI from data centers in Georgia. AWS data centers are built to run traditional workloads as well as AI/ML models.
