Agile methodologies emphasize incremental development, enabling teams to deliver functional products quickly. Test #stakeholder alignment on your #roadmap by asking a trusted outsider’s opinion before you finalize. Bring someone in with fresh eyes who may spot holes or problems the group missed. Do this with the whole group present and it may prompt deeper discussion of the thorniest issues as they hear their own private doubts expressed by someone they respect. Another technique to improve your plan is to ask for commitment. Ask each contributor for specific actions they will take by specific dates. If they hesitate, you know there are unaddressed doubts that are hindering true #alignment. Also, LEGO and Socure Product jobs.... #productmanagement

“The constraint is there to make you better.” Great quote from Lance Dacy MSc, CST on Agile Mentors Podcast episode 100 (https://lnkd.in/g6YJqU2C). It elegantly captures the idea I’ve been trying to express in a meandering, half-baked blog post I haven’t had time to finish. It’s hard for a team to turn ideas into working, ready-to-release software in 2 weeks, but the difficulty is a feature not a bug. When looking at process improvements, avoid things that work around the constraints. For example, a common solution to allow teams to finish sprints is to set “dev complete” date a few days before the end of the sprint. This works, but it’s a crutch that hides problems the team should be solving. Stuff like not enough collaboration and communication between dev and QA and lack of automated testing. So don’t work around the constraints put in place by agile and scrum - they are there to make you better.

When working with an Enterprise RAG system, we are working with Theory of constraints. By focusing on the core limitation and continuously working to alleviate it, we can elevate the entire system’s performance. Everyone working in trenches will agree that most often than not the bottleneck is not the LLM but other sub-systems which are sub-optimal for the world of generative applications. Don't fuss about which LLM provider is right but how you can enhance the sub-components of your application.

As David Marquet also mentions in his best selling "turn that ship around" there is no way to outperform a crew in which everyone is a leader and decisions are taken where the information is and by the people who have the competence and the context to do so. While these are not new concepts they're still not embraced enough and silos are still a thing. what can we do in the coming new year and beyond to spread this mindset beyond the few great minds and early adopters?
