Many large freight brokerages implement strict guidelines and standards for the privilege of doing business with them. Conditions and fines are implemented for load tracking, BOL submissions, missed appointments, etc. However, those high standards seem to go out the window when it comes to their accounts payable. 🤫

LTL industry readies for new freight classifications in 2025 "NMFTA’s changes create density-based rating system" The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) is simplifying its 90-year-old rating system for less-than-truckload freight to move towards a more density-based approach. The overhaul aims to make the system more user-friendly and reduce freight reclassifications, which often result in higher-than-expected costs for shippers. Updating and condensing commodity codes will ensure a shipment's actual characteristics are accounted for prior to pickup, producing more accurate freight rates upfront. The system will still rely on four primary transportation characteristics – density, handling, stowability, and liability – but the evaluation now targets density as the primary characteristic when there are no concerns with the other three. Density ratings have been expanded from 11 subprovisions to 13, with generic headings being consolidated. Freight with special handling, stowability, or liability concerns will have new symbols. The final docket for phase one (docket 2025-1) will be released on Jan. 30, with a public feedback period to follow. Unload a full trailer in 2 minutes?! This solution from WDX Group does just that. Grabbing every pallet in the trailer at once, it pulls them out with ease and then takes them to a buffer zone where they can be picked up to be put away. They can even take it a step further by connecting this to a pallet ASRS and automate the entire unloading and put away process. In a high trailer throughput operation this is definitely a game changer. I learned about this solution at the ABCO Systems LLC trade show from Rick Driscoll and Krishna Ramasubramanian of RAMS Manufacturing Solutions LLC who is bringing this solution to North America. I am definitely impressed by the possibilities this solution can bring to an operation. What do you think about this?

A big question when it comes to buy new or used equipment, lease it or rent it. This video is a walk thru my journey as a 5PL warehouse owner now. The next 6-12 months will be pivotal in the logistics space. There will be lots of opportunity for companies that successfully navigate the market and poistion themselves well. My guess is that there will be more acquisitions on both the brokerage and asset side. Unfortunately it seems like there will also be many companies that end up shutting their doors as well. These factors along with the the market inevitably moving back up will create opportunities for some companies to win really big. #logsitics #freight #3PL

Here's why networking is critical for every business. Recently, one of Cool Way's clients asked for a direct connection to our FTL rates. Our TMS only provides an LTL rate connection, so naturally, we will work with a vendor to complete this project. Our TMS gave us the names of a few companies they have standing integrations with, some of which I am familiar with, some of which I am not, and only one that stood out. Do you know why? It's because this company's leader is incredible at networking. He's out in front, pours into people without expecting anything in return, attends conferences, and gets to know people to know them. I had no hesitation in reaching out to him. Networking matters. It's a long cycle, but it's worth it. Get out there.
