Your sales team is at odds with customer service. How can you align them to boost sales strategies?
I’ve found bringing the service team into the sales process helps in a few ways: 1) helps everyone understand the client’s needs and goals in a more direct/personal way vs hearing from the sales team second hand, which… 2) allows them to provide input and be part of the solution. This provides them “ownership” in the outcome which creates buy-in for the team, which… 3) creates continuity between sales-service and a better experience for the client.

How can you get the most out of risk management conferences as a consultant?
Here's 3 tips to maximize your time at risk management conferences: 1) Review the list of attendees beforehand, identifying those folks that you are interested in meeting. Focus on quality over quantity as one great connection can change everything. 2) Connect with them on LinkedIn before the conference. Explain why you want to meet them, and what you want to discuss. Pro tip: Tell them you have something you'd like their opinion on... (have one) 3) Show up with something to discuss, ask insightful questions. But most important of all, be willing to help others before asking for help. So many people miss this part. In summary, know who you want to meet & why, ask questions, and help where you can. Watch what happens!

What are some ways to build trust with a new team?
Here's 3 ways I've found to help build trust with a new team: 1) If possible, meet each person individually to learn about them. Be genuinely curious, and you can learn about what motivates, is important to them, and feedback on what's working (or not), 2) Communicate- share your goals and priorities for the team. Get their feedback. 3) Focus on what the team needs to be successful in reaching #2. Teams can determine pretty quick leaders focused on their teams, or themselves. Teams work hard for team leaders, not as much for self-centered leaders (or those viewed as such).

What are the best ways to build a strong professional relationship with your supervisor?
Here's 3 things I've found helpful to build a relationship with a supervisor: 1) Understand their priorities & how you can help them reach them. Ask if you don't know. 2) Respect their time. We all want face time with "the boss," but they likely are stretched thin. Be concise, resourceful, and have solutions (versus complaining). 3) Be clear their expectations of you and DELIVER. Too many times, folks aren't clear of the priorities, goals & expectations on them, & end up missing the mark. All of this helps you build a better relationship by being viewed as higher value, resourceful and helpful to leadership. Good leaders and supervisors want to surround themselves with people like this.
