🌟 Intentional Networking 🌟 Hearing a talk referring to intentional networking recently, has made me rethink about my networking. Knowing a lot of people versus intentionally building a quality network are not the same. 🤝 Quality Over Quantity: Do I know who the top five in my network are, my top 15 and so on? It’s not about how many connections I have, but the depth and quality of those relationships. 🌐 Diverse Perspectives: Am I being intentional about finding diverse thoughts and backgrounds? Diversity in network fosters innovation and challenges me to deviate from my usual way of strategizing as a leader. 🎯 Focused Goals: Do I have peers/friends who have similar passion or interests? Intentionally identifying those peers and striking conversations to align on a regular basis is a win-win for everyone. ❤️ Support System: This one is my favorite as I tap into my support system anytime I need a push or an encouraging nod or a reminder that “I got this!” It is not a one-way support system. "Silos are subcultures, but not all subcultures are silos." According to the attached article from Gustavo Razzetti, culture, often overlooked, is the true catalyst for organizational change. While company culture sets the overall tone, team culture directly shapes the individuals within the organization. Subcultures, when not silos, are valuable assets that foster a sense of belonging and identity. This article highlights the importance of trust, small group size, and decentralized decision-making in cultivating a thriving team culture that can drive innovation and improve the overall company culture from the inside out.

Information Security isn't something that can be separate from anything in the Information Technology field. It's been that way for some time, but earlier this year I started down the CISSP certification route, and am elated to share that I've received the official notice of credential today. Thanks to all that gave me study tips and guidance!

Change management and organizational development are never easy, not for the agency leaders nor for the employees. But communication is crucial for both parties and the forging of a working relationship. In these times of questionable appropriations and unreasonable deadlines, all employees are striving to meet the agency's goals. We push ahead trying to please the higher ups that we forget those grappling at our heels, trying to meet their mission as well. Sometimes we need to come to a halt, do an about-face, and realign our efforts where all parties feel acknowledged, heard, respected, and empowered to become the building block to a successful organization.

By taking a holistic approach and adopting a strategic shift-left mindset in core system replacement projects, government organizations can increase the likelihood of success and achieve sustained modernization efforts. This involves prioritizing current replacements, involving stakeholders early, aligning with organizational goals, establishing robust oversight, and focusing on continuous improvement. Increased success rates, sustained modernization efforts, improved project outcomes, enhanced stakeholder satisfaction, increased cost savings, streamlined processes, improved security measures, and efficient IT service delivery in government organizations.

Saddened to see another cybersecurity breach impacting public institutions in Seattle, following the ransomware attack on our public libraries in May and recent Port of Seattle hack. In my work, I see organizations striking an increasingly difficult balance between ensuring tech systems are both efficiently accessible to their teams and secure from bad actors.
