  • A Contextual Approach to E-Learning Delivery in Higher Educational Institution Learning Organizations

Journal of Higher Education Theory and Practice

The increasing complexity and changing dynamics of the Higher Educational Institution (HEI) learning organization have prompted a reexamination of e-learning delivery considerations. HEI learning organizations that desire to adapt and deliver learner-centered outcomes could benefit from clear and concise e-learning delivery considerations. A theory synthesis integrating…

HEI learning organizations that desire to adapt and deliver learner-centered outcomes could benefit from clear and concise e-learning delivery considerations. A theory synthesis integrating relevant HEI learning organization and e-learning literature streams is the theoretical methodology that developed a concise, widely applicable set of e-learning delivery considerations.

  • Reframing Employee Well-Being and Organizational Commitment

    Journal of Organizational Psychology

We developed and tested a model examining the influence of employee well-being on reported levels of affective organizational commitment. Utilizing the PERMA profiler to measure positive emotion, negative emotion, and physical health, we proposed that positive emotion and physical health increase affective commitment levels.

Subsequently, we assess whether negative emotion and ill-physical health decrease reported affective commitment. We tested our model utilizing 190 respondents taken…

Utilizing the PERMA profiler to measure positive emotion, negative emotion, and physical health, we proposed that positive emotion and physical health increase affective commitment levels.

Subsequently, we assess whether negative emotion and ill-physical health decrease reported affective commitment. We tested our model utilizing 190 respondents taken from an anonymous survey. Findings support our hypotheses as high levels of positive emotion and physical health positively impact affective commitment. Negative emotion and physical ill-health, on the other hand, decrease employee affective commitment.

The chairman of the Hospital Authority of Valdosta and Lowndes County, the board that oversaw the South Georgia Medical Center (SGMC), needed to improve an organization struggling with rapid and unexpected departures of chief executive officers. He needed a CEO who could refocus the SGMC on managing financial resources and regulatory requirements. Additionally, he faced immense pressure to oversee delivering higher-quality patient care. The shifting healthcare delivery landscape exacerbated the ability to effectively manage financial and clinical resources. He knew it was essential to address these issues while maintaining the stability and confidence of SGMC stakeholders. It was not going to be easy. While he had experienced difficult times, increased community expectations required greater Hospital Authority oversight in a changing healthcare delivery environment.

Project Description: Last year, there were 95,000 illegal sea crossings from Africa into Europe. The criminal smuggling of migrants by sea is one of the most dangerous forms of migrant smuggling and often requires urgent humanitarian assistance. Since 2015 over 18,000 people have died or are believed to be missing in the Mediterranean and Atlantic in their attempt to reach Europe. An additional 541,600 people have needed to be rescued in the Mediterranean alone. To save the lives of those in distress at sea, EU countries’ coastguards and navies have deployed substantial resources; however, due to the nature of marine operations, the cost of doing so is high and therefore limited. Between 2006 to 2017, the EU has spent at least €676.4 million on maritime “walls.”

ACUA Ocean is developing a cost-effective Autonomous Surface Vessel (H-USV) solution to reduce the costs of these efforts while providing a greater presence at sea to save more lives.
