After scaling several startups earlier in my #talentacquisition career, I realized stability in TA was going to be elusive so I started HireScale in 2018. The idea was to create stability by embracing the instability. Many hiring peaks and valleys later, I’m proud to have created a platform for the TA community riding the waves with me 🌊 🏄 Its not perfect and there's still a lot of work left to do, but experimenting with the programs, pricing models and technology concepts have been worthwhile challenges since starting this journey. Although, I can’t change the extreme hiring fluctuations we see in tech, I can bring awareness, solutions and most of all--help support TA mobility in the #futureofwork. The goal hasn’t changed. Until I turn instability into stability, I’ll just be over here riding the waves, creating, helping others, bringing awareness and solving recruiter mobility. One recruiter. One FTE. One gig. Important update: You can now start a company on H-1B even if you have more than 50% equity in it! Last week, USCIS updated its FAQs around H-1B, green cards, and more, providing clarity and flexibility for H-1B workers and their families. Here are 5 key points from the updated FAQs: - You CAN file an H-1B petition through a company you incorporated, even if you own over 50% equity, as long as you can demonstrate an employer-employee relationship. - You can switch employers on your H-1B as soon as you file through the new employer. - Your priority date for a green card is secured upon I-140 approval. - Once I-140 is approved for 180 days, your employer cannot withdraw it. - You do not need an approved I-140 the entire time you are waiting for an immigrant visa. In my recent conversations with CHROs and Talent Acquisition executives one consideration remains consistent across industry sectors: the imperative for #AI integration into Workforce Strategy. As HR teams gather for the last set of planning meetings before year end, here are some suggestions to add to your decision framework: 1. The Urgent Shift Toward AI Integration in Workforce Strategy; By 2025, artificial intelligence will no longer be a supplementary "tool" but an adaptive partner woven into the fabric of decision-making across industries. Organizations that harness AI effectively will see unmatched precision in workforce planning and scaling, ensuring growth without sacrificing governance, brand integrity, or risk management. But companies need to start now. The failure to prioritize AI could mean playing catch up in adjusting your talent acquisition strategies to align with your open roles. 2. Disruption in Talent Acquisition: Real-Time Skill Assessment vs. "Years of Experience" Requirements; The age of the traditional resume and linear career path is coming to an end. As AI transforms talent acquisition, the hiring process will need to focus on real-time, skill-based assessments, placing value on adaptability and problem-solving over static qualifications. By 2025, candidates will no longer be selected solely on fit for a specific role but on their ability to flex into adjacent and emerging roles and responsibilities. AI will enable recruiters and hiring managers to hire for technical acumen as well as potential for growth. This will mean that years of experience will become less valuable as a screening metric. 3. Connectivity Among HR, Marking, Finance Leaders Focused On TA; There is an increasing appetite for leaders in the workforce planning and talent acquisition space to share best practices, which are consistently in flux.
