🎣 Superintendent Summit 2024 🎣   After many years working in this industry, I’ve come to realize how crucial it is to take time out of our busy schedules for connection and growth. This past weekend, our much-anticipated Superintendent Summit took place, where our superintendents and I enjoyed fellowship, leadership training, guided fishing, and team-building activities.   In an industry that demands constant dedication and hard work, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind. However, events like these remind us of the importance of stepping back to connect as a team, engage in professional development, reflect on our goals, and foster stronger relationships. We ate, fished, laughed, and learned together, creating lasting memories and reinforcing the bonds that make our team exceptional.   I am deeply grateful for the leadership and commitment each superintendent brings to the table. This team shows up every day and is a huge force behind our success. I also want to extend a huge Thank You to our assistant superintendents and the team members that held down the forts while we were out. Without their willingness to support, gatherings like this wouldn’t be possible.   Not only is it beneficial to take the time for experiences like the Superintendent Summit; it’s essential for nurturing a cohesive, motivated team. Wood Fence Post Installs: To concrete or not to concrete, that is the question. When installing wood posts either ACQ or Cedar should you use concrete or not?? Why either way? Last month, Ecobeton-USA's Vetrofluid was used to permanently protect runway 16L/31R at Love Field in Dallas. During a scheduled shutdown for repair and maintenance, they were able to apply 2 coats of Vetrofluid, from touchdown zone to touchdown zone, in under 4 hours, including the cleanup (which is simply rinsing with water because Vetrofluid has zero VOC'S!). Now the runway has permanent protection from water infiltration, deicing fluid, other chemicals and contaminants, and freeze/thaw cycles. It also has increased abrasion resistance, making rubber removal quicker and easier. Spalls will be reduced, if not eliminated. Just a few days away now, if you'll be around Atlanta on Thursday morning, please consider joining us for what should be an interesting Skipper Seminar this year. You'll get a view into designing / specifying, supplying, and constructing a concrete project where carbon reduction / GWP / embodied carbon requirements are part of the delivery from a great group of experts. We'll also have a Q&A Roundtable discussion time with the presenters and a few extra knowledgeable folks from Georgia to get specific insights into their experience with these project requirements. Thursday weather in ATL is looking like another humid & hot day with Real Feel of 92 F and 88% chance of rain - avoid both briefly with an educational session on concrete projects you wouldn't want to miss anyway, and still have your afternoon to tackle those necessary tasks. Concrete is the greatest building material ever invented and isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
