Three things stand out to me about what makes Rohan B. so effective in leveraging partnerships to drive growth. 1️⃣ He has a clear, multi-year strategy. Rohan knows it's a long game. He identifies the high potential opportunities that may be hard to pull off, but will definitely be valuable when you do- e.g. building GSI relationships. He communicates a compelling, long-term vision to leadership, gets buy in, and makes a plan to move the ball forward q/q and y/y. 2️⃣ He does the blocking and tackling. He connects vision to a ground game and a smart, sequential plan. He brings in the people and uplevels the process and infrastructure needed to execute the next stage of his strategy. He gives his team what they need to be effective and makes the partner motion incrementally more impactful. You have to make progress and show progress, and Rohan knows the playbook to do both. 3️⃣ Mamba Mentality- IYKYK Rohan shows up dressed to impress. He's friendly & easy to work with, but there is an intensity to everything he does. He does not wait for things to happen. He is ambitious, driven, and manifests partnerships out of his superlative force of will. When you're certain about the potential of what you're building, you build with certainty. I've worked w Rohan B. on partnerships in a prior role and watched him get off to a fast & strong start building an amazing partner org at Pigment- I've learned tons about partnerships from him over the last three years. There are three types of CMOs, and the best one for your company depends on what your organization needs most. I was chatting with my friend and mentor, Pallavi Vanacharla recently, and we got into a fascinating discussion about the different types of CMOs and how they align with the needs of a business. Her perspective really got me thinking: 1️⃣ Product Marketing CMOs The strategic storytellers who bring products to life in the market. They’re masters of positioning, messaging, and aligning teams to ensure the product resonates. If your company is launching new products or defining its market fit, a CMO with a product marketing background can make all the difference. 2️⃣ Brand CMOs The creatives and architects of perception. They focus on building emotional connections and crafting a memorable brand that customers trust and love. If your company is establishing or refreshing its identity, a brand-oriented CMO is the perfect choice to shape your story. 3️⃣ Demand Gen CMOs The revenue builders and growth drivers. These CMOs are laser-focused on pipeline, lead generation, and scaling revenue. If your company is in a high-growth phase and focused on acquisition, they’re the ones to steer the ship. What Pallavi and I kept coming back to is this: It’s not about which type is “better.” It’s about what your company needs most right now. Before hiring your next CMO, ask yourself: Is our top priority launching a product, building a brand, or scaling growth? And while having experience across all these functions is always awesome, what truly matters is understanding what “great” looks like in areas outside your core expertise. If you’re a product marketing-oriented leader, you don’t need to have done demand gen or brand building yourself—but you do need to know how to hire the best leaders for those roles. This is where leveraging your network becomes invaluable. Ask the right questions, learn from those who’ve built world-class teams, and figure out the key markers of success in those complementary areas. This conversation stuck with me because it’s a reminder that leadership isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about recognizing the right skills at the right time—and being thoughtful about filling the gaps. I'm a newbie to CX and even I know NPS is dead. Or is it? 🤔 Working in Marketing, I'm used to the death of many things. ☠ MQLs - dead. ☠ The funnel - dead. ☠ SEO - this one has more lives than a cat. ☠ Content marketing - since SEO is dead we might as well kill this one too. I could go on... But the thing is, *maybe* these things aren't dead... they're just being mis-used. MQLs are a neat metric for marketing teams to keep an eye on at the top of the funnel, but they shouldn't be rammed down the throats of sales reps. And NPS? Well, take limehome. In this interview with CX Today, Julia Katharina Zuber says they've increased NPS by 22% - and that's very cool. But what's really neat is that in listening to their guests they've made significant changes to their offerings, wether that's the design of their apartments, their signage or the furniture they're equipped with. And this, in turn, resulted in more nights booked 💰 Like all metrics, NPS can be used well or poorly. What matters is that customers are listened to and companies use their feedback to deliver the desired experience. #experienceledgrowth #xlg #CX
