Leadership and Culture- What do leaders need to know, and do, to improve Safety Culture? That question will be discussed during a panel session at the Society of Petroleum Engineers International ATCE on September 24 in New Orleans. Joining me on the panel will be Thomas Hinterseer, CEDEP, Krystal Sexton, Shell, Dr Shama Didla Egbe CPsychol, ARAMCO, and Nico Cosca, Helmerich & Payne. What I would like to know from those who read this post is what you think operational, and safety, leaders need to know from both a soft skills and hard skills standpoint, to drive a culture of safety effectively.   I have had the privilege of working with operational leaders who were actively involved in the oversight of safety performance as well as the development and execution of strategies designed to reduce risk and move the company towards an Interdependent (DuPont Bradley Curve), or a Generative (Hudson Curve) state in Safety Culture. Where they were actively engaged there was a marked improvement in culture and performance.   However, I have also had the challenge of working with leaders who may have been sincere in their belief in safety, however, their actions anchored the company in the Reactive (DuPont Bradley Curve) or Pathologic (Hudson Curve) states of the Safety Culture Maturity curves. In these cases, culture and performance were suboptimal and struggled to improve. The challenge for performance and culture improvement is how to prepare individuals for leadership positions so that they can positively impact their operations. Natural Gas: Natural Gas is not a bridge fuel or transition fuel. Natural Gas is and always will be a Core component of our baseload energy portfolio. ESG is a politically motivated effort that is now in the process of a slow death. Shareholders demand profit, ESG adds nothing to the bottom-line.

OPEC and its allies have been withholding supplies in a bid to prop up prices, but that’s seen the group losing market share to rivals including U.S. shale producers. IEA---- Global balances would flip to a surplus in the fourth quarter should OPEC stick to its plan to return production.
