Success is Subjective The path to triumph for one business owner, may be a burdensome road for another. As we navigate our way we must be thoughtful about what it is WE truly want for our SMB and ourselves. 🆇 Not what is expected of us. 🆇 Not what the headlines say success is. 🆇 Not diving into the latest trends to try to keep up. The journey is both challenging and rewarding. Aligning YOUR success criteria with your WHY. It’s the way to true fulfillment. Once our WHY is defined, we need to reflect on our unique abilities and set specific goals that ladder back up to our why. Different Views of 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 ► Perhaps success means having the freedom to manage your time, balancing business demands with personal and family time. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 ► It might be building a foundation that brings comfort and security, enabling choices beyond financial constraints. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 ► For some, it’s the joy of doing what they love every day, turning passions into profits. August 13 and today’s lesson is Take Charge And End Your Troubles. “We can let circumstances rule us, or we can take charge and rule our lives from within.”- Earl Nightingale You have the ability to control what you pay attention to. Use your ruling reason and focus only on things that are important and you can control. That is the only way to avoid unnecessary troubles and move forward. For entrepreneurs this lesson is critical. Every day things will come up that can distract you and take your attention away from what is important. Do not allow that to happen and focus on what is in front of you. What is the task that I need to accomplish today to get me to where I want to go in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years? Opening Scene: You're at your computer, supposed to be working on a crucial project. But a notification from your favorite social media catches your eye, and you can't resist checking it out. What Do You Find? A post by your best friend, family member, a stranger, or a famous person that you find idiotic, offensive, or insane. It clashes with your opinions, failing the "That's what I think!" test. The Opportunity: You believe you can change their mind with a carefully worded reply. Once that's done, you can get back to your important work… you know–that stuff you do for a living. The Challenge: You struggle to start your reply without saying, “Look, Dumb Ass!” The whole interaction makes you type aggressively, almost damaging your keyboard. But remember, as my friend Bob Burg says, calling someone stupid never changes their mind. Alter the Course: First, turn off all social media, personal email, and text notifications while working—unless it’s absolutely necessary. Second, understand your reaction and choose a different behavior.. My concept of FusionPoints™ applies to the world, not just business. Our emotions mix with our perception of the logical choice we face, leading to our decisions. When a post angers you, it triggers a negative emotion. Then, a somatic marker makes you feel differently inside your upper body. You don't like that feeling, so your reaction is hostile. This is a collision point: your negative emotions combine with your logic. Collision points cause damage to any relationship. In sales, they make a prospect say no. In leadership, they cause turnover in your team. And in personal relationships… numerous collision points cause break-ups. If I may suggest, handle things in a new way. Choose to pause. Breathe, relax, and reply later (if at all). Then, get back to work. Call to Action: Remember, civil discourse has deteriorated over the years. You don't need to compromise your principles to treat others with respect and kindness. A tactful reply, even in disagreement, yields better results. Be the change the world needs. P.S. Are you a line 6 hexagram struggling to stabilize constant change?
