- 'Allegro Hand' by Wonik Robotics - I am pleased to announce that the Allegro Hand, which is a robot hand and developed and made by our company, Wonik Robotics Co., Ltd. in South Korea, has become the cover model for a newspaper article, titled "South Korean researchers develop robotic fingers with pressure sensitivity", published in the Chosun Daily News by the Chosunilbo. According to this newspaper article, "South Korean researchers have developed a robotic finger that can sense the pressure of an object it grips in real time, mimicking the sensitivity of a human finger. If you are designing wire actuated wrists or continuum robots you will be surely disappointed when you build your first few prototypes. what can be expected from these systems when taking into account friction and compliance is often the dirt we sweep under the rug. Our new ASME JMR Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics paper by My students Neel Shihora and Jared Lawson and in collaboration with Long Wang, Paul Moubarak, and Max Reese have tackled these problems. Questions regarding what is the appropriate way to deal with predicting the tool tip position and orientation uncertainty due to frictional losses and compliance are dealt with via a careful modification of the robot Jacobian using a new notion of wire tension zones and wire tension transition maps. if you are a designer working on surgical wrists, this works should also be beneficial to you. ##VISEVANDERBILT

After attending the SPRINT Robotics Seminar, I have been thinking about their work to standardize the rules and nomenclature regarding robotics operations. When autonomous robots become more common, the number of possible failure and accident modes will multiply. There will be signs everywhere...and if history is our lesson plan, those signs will oft be ignored. Some signs will only be ignored once.

In order to measure image chromatic distortion between 1/8 and ½ a pixel, we needed to measure image features one order of magnitude smaller: We achieved 0,01 to 0,03 pixel ... In order to prove the amount of bias in an image, we used image compression as a metric: 4 bias sources added together amount to 1/3 of lost image compression. One third of the compressed image file is bias. In order to show how bad telemetry was, we showed how image scale accuracy could be made more accurate, 10e-5 to 10e-10 m scale accuracy improvement, 5 digits more, by removing one single bias source, there are 3 more at least. In doing so, the image center moves 3 pixels, and the aim shifts... We can prove our approach retains true object geometry, its imposed in the math formulation we use. Our approach leads to the only missing knowledge in #digitalimaging: How to model a zooming lens. ISO (International Standard Organization) identified this very specific gap in technology as THE missing factor slowing adoption of what is already the second most deployed digital technology after the microchip. Robotics integration: Our design strategy Python is among the worst languages for real time use, reason we chose C/C++/C#. It matches C# only on memory use, by far the least problem as compared to energy or computing time. Our embedded code is pure C, 70x faster than Python, not accounting for our increase in imaging accuracy and computing speed performance. We achieve 6 to 20 faster code from our imaging algos in pure software, and more can be achieved by converting the imaging techniques in FPGA, more than 100 times in image bias removal. That's 70x100... 7000 times faster. Beat that in your Tesla Elon. So less battery power from computing, more accurate by 1 full digit, and a massive drop in integration cost... means lower, much lower car price as electronics accounts for more than 30% of the overall cost This is why our technology is so disruptive: We basically pick the winner in any given market

With TM FAST Module increase Machine Performance The TM FAST technology module offers extremely fast interlinking in the S7-1500/ET 200MP system. The user can program the function of the TM FAST, and it allows internal cycle times of up to 20 nanoseconds. The S7-1500 TM FAST user-programmable technology module provides the user the possibility to program the function of the module application-specifically. To this purpose, an application is created using the Intel® Quartus® Prime engineering tool chain from Intel, and this application is loaded into the TM FAST. There, the program is processed in an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array). The user has direct access to the digital inputs and outputs.
