NEW: Internal Threads Internal threads allow you to spin up conversations in Slack from Pylon. It's great when you want to start a conversation with someone, but they primarily use Slack (e.g. engineers, product people or anyone who isn't living out of the support system). Common internal threads we are creating at Pylon: 1/ #bugs to report a potential bug 2/ #project channels to ask a team a question about a specific feature 3/ #feedback to report product feedback to the team It's been one of the most game-changing features we've released and we're so excited to share it with everyone. Klarna has made a flurry of announcements about their new tools this year, but interestingly, they haven't provided any specific details on how they did it. If you replace 'AI' with 'awesome', 'crappy', or even 'God' in their announcements, the intent becomes visible. It seems like they're generating buzz to prepare for their IPO. If they've developed a cutting-edge CRM tool or innovative workforce solution, why not monetize it or offer it as open-source or freeware? That would create more excitement and marketing traction than these vague announcements. Are we to expect similar announcements about upcoming payroll software, bookkeeping software, and marketing automation software :-)

This is something I really want to celebrate! Both the outcome with a seriously improved, modern and great looking new app, as well as the people who made it happen! It’s been a truly massive undertaking during which many teams and individuals have been put to the test. I’m immensely proud of our teams and how everyone has stepped up and delivered time and time again during this journey. I have two main takeaways from this project: 1. Always strive to make sure everyone involved understands the why. Deep understanding of the desired result from a particular change enables many more brain cells to think through the implications, potential problems and opportunities. Even the most brilliant minds will have trouble understanding every aspect, implication, or even opportunity stemming from a change or introduction of something new. 2. Technical architecture needs to be an integral part of the change process in any project of this size. I firmly believe that we would not have succeeded in delivering a successful outcome at the speed at which this was delivered without a very well thought out technical architecture that support such a high pace of change while still also supporting consistency and stability across the experience. To everyone involved in this project: Thank you! I feel privileged to be working with so many brilliant minds.

This is a cool project, and another example of the emerging "replace stateful storage with S3" trend. I do wonder at what point someone will package this sort of thing up into a FUSE filesystem to make it generally usable across existing services. Have you reduced overhead by 99% on any meaningful back office task since the launch of AI? Well, why not? Apparently, Amazon has. The interesting thing about this new technology is that it shows the jobs most at risk are things like coding, where there is a clear, quantifiable feedback loop between action and result. But adoption is going to be the challenge. Honestly, a lot of small businesses don't even know how to do basic things like mail merge. Even my peers at large companies with better-than-average technical skills have barely used these AI tools. So far, I've reduced several back office tasks by 80% through the at least partial use of AI. It's amazing how powerful this technology can be.

Classifying transactions remains an unsolved problem. Seems like it's something that someone should've figured out by now. Yet, it hasn't. I often get asked, “What’s the future of payments?” For me, it’s all about seamless, secure, and cross-border functionality. At InVision, we worked with some amazing software vendors. I know I've talked about most of these in the past; but, I just want to give a final shout-out to some of my favorites: * LaunchDarkly - feature flags completely changed the way we approached product development. And, allowed us to all but eliminate our incidents and outages (shameless plug for my own book: https://lnkd.in/ehxiy6bY). * Postmark - delivered all of our outbound emails and powered our inbound reply-by-email workflows with flawless uptime and befuddling performance. * Pusher - powered our real-time collaboration via WebSockets, bringing our UIs to life and keeping browsers synchronized. * Intergral | FusionReactor APM - gave us deep insights into our JVM performance, allowing us to track down SQL, API, and processing bottlenecks. * Datadog - truly world-class metrics, alerting, and monitoring. * Adobe ColdFusion / Lucee CFML - the programming language and application server that allowed us to move fast, keep things simple, respond to users, and build wonderful things. * Cloudflare - your CDN, WAF, and web workers took a beating so that our origin servers could stay online. * Amplitude - connected me to the users by giving us insight into what our users were actually doing (or not doing). At one point, I think we had over 300 different SaaS subscriptions; so this list is faaaaar from exhaustive. And, I'm sure I'm forgetting other beloved services. And, many of our teams worked with entirely different technologies. This is just my little corner of the organization. And, I couldn't have done it without them. Thank you so much! ❤️

Today we're launching our newest candidate quality-of-life feature on Ropes - IDE themes. There's a universal dislike for the rigid IDEs that assessment co's force on candidates. These code editors are slow, clunky, and missing the styes/shortcuts that developers enjoy. Developers are unique, and we work in unique ways. Ropes offers two new options to let candidates keep their style: (1) First, many employers on Ropes allow candidates to work in their own IDEs entirely. We've developed a way to gather insights like you were in the room, while allowing developers to use their daily environments. (2) For cases that need a browser-based IDE - we're giving the ability for candidates to choose their style/editor setup before the assessment starts - so they're comfortable when it begins. --- My bet is that if we build a great experience for candidates, we'll be building a great platform for evaluators, too. Everyone, today marks a significant milestone here at Sort. We've launched a new way for anyone in your company to help fix your data. We're calling this feature Sort Change Requests and it's available for you to try out on https://sort.xyz immediately. With Sort Change Requests, we've taken software engineering change management best practices and applied them to your database. If you are familiar with GitHub Pull Requests then Change Requests should feel familiar, except instead of modifying your codebase you are modifying your database. Propose your data changes --> have them reviewed by the data team --> then apply them only after sign off. If there's a problem during execution, the changes are automatically rolled back. 😎 Today's launch includes support for Postgres so if you're team is using a different database please let us know and we will prioritize appropriately.
