🚀🔧 Sorella Labs, a startup focused on developing a MEV (Miner Extractable Value) risk-hedging tool, has raised $7.5 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by Paradigm, with participation from Uniswap Ventures, Bankless Ventures, and Robot Ventures. Google just announced Android XR - a new OS for spatial tech with a hardware partnership with Samsung for a headset launching next year. Initial takeaways: - Deep integration with Gemini, believing that AI <> XR is critical for interfacing - Android's developer ecosystem is massive, can attract a lot of new devs while supporting their massive 2D app ecosystem - Has eye/hand tracking, similar to Apple Vision Pro/Meta Quest Pro - Of any HMD to hit the market, this one is the biggest threat to Meta's market share - Pricing not announced, would be important to start <$1000 - Nothing announced yet on controllers, but if Google wants to get meaningful traction, it will need controller support for the biggest genre of XR content (games)

Step 1 - Make Decentralized Infrastructure the obvious choice for AI developers. Remove the pain of tokens and jargon. Make it easier to use than web2. Yes it's possible. Step 2 - Tokenize AI models and agents trained on niche and specialized data. Usher into a new class of digital assets that will make Wall Street go crazy. We might still buy and sell data as an asset directly to build custom models but it is more likely that AI models and agents as an class of IP assets will outperform other asset classes as they already capture human intelligence paired with specialized training data. Step 3 is Co-ownership of AI systems as all these specialized models and agents will come together to form AI systems we will interact with.

🧩 One thing we've noticed with #VentureIQ technology is how well it can distill and communicate complex technical material 🧩 Whether it's a #deeptech venture, a novel #AI application, or even a patent submission, we can quickly distill the business and strategic implications for investors...and sometimes even the founders/PIs themselves! 🤯 Based on our work so far, the tech can handle a wide array of research areas and technological sectors -- anything from blockchain algorithms to vaccine development. It handles the nuance of the field, the specific terminology, and extracts the key concepts which matter for venture-building. 🤓 To demonstrate, I took a patent I helped write with Eric Laber on reinforcement learning. I ran it through #Ventureiq to build a commercial assessment (key differentiators, target markets). Then for fun I had #NotebookLM make a podcast out of it. NVIDIA's Jensen said "ChatGPT democratized computing, Llama2 democratized generative AI" ...and now Llama3 is the next level 🔥 It's fascinating to watch Meta's strategic moves. With Llama3, they prioritized training on a massive 15T token dataset to pack all into a lean 70B param model, instead of building a massive model. Exciting to see startups aiming to use AI to discover chemicals, materials, drugs, etc. Semi companies have taken notice: AMD is investing in and Cadence is acquiring them. Semi/EDA companies have broken out by becoming critical path, whether it’s through critical software, packaging, IP, design kits from foundries, or user communities. Aside from just making it easy to make new materials, these “AI for making X” companies also need to articulate a vision as to how they can establish monopolistic positions in their industries.

Highly recommend this interview from the All-In Podcast summit with Tekedra N. Mawakana, Co-CEO of Waymo. Great work by Jason Calacanis, Chamath Palihapitiya, David O. Sacks, and David Friedberg. Here are some insights that stood out to me: 🚦 Why does Waymo avoid freeways? Freeways are pretty straightforward and Waymo is more focused on denser, unpredictable environments since they help the AI learn faster and better. 🤖 Tekedra referenced the ‘Waymo Driver’ often, which is an interesting term - in a way, they are building ‘one new driver’. 🤝 Will Waymo disrupt and decimate Uber? Well they’re partners so it would be an awkward yes so take this one with a grain of salt. Tekedra said that they don’t want to be experts at everything. They partner with OEMS on the vehicle side, so it made sense to partner with Uber on the rideshare platform side. I buy that.
