The red beads symbolize defects within a process. Despite diligent efforts to inspect and control the process, the overall outcome remains largely unchanged due to inherent flaws in the system. This highlights Dr. Deming’s core principle that exclusively relying on inspection, without addressing underlying systemic issues, is ineffective. Essentially, the experiment emphasizes the significance of refining processes rather than depending solely on inspection to achieve improved results. With the advent of new technologies such as AI, it’s conceivable that the speed at which we generate subpar outcomes could be alarming if we fail to optimize processes before automation. The market for enterprise applications grew 12% in 2023, to $356 billion thanks to the adoption of AI and generative AI according to IDC. “With just 0.2% of market share separating SAP and Salesforce, IDC regards these two companies as statistically tied for the number 1 position in the worldwide enterprise applications market for 2023,” it said in a new study, Worldwide Enterprise Applications Software Forecast, 2024–2028.
