Any technical Hubspot admins out there that can help answer something? I'm trying to get a custom URL parameter pulled into a record from the URL where a form sits. I.E. URL of a landing page contains "&utm_custom=12345" and I want the value "12345" stored in that contact's record. How can you do this? I thought it would be easy but I'm coming up empty.

I've been discovering far too many HubSpot websites are still on the old version of the template editor. And it makes sense why... A few years ago HubSpot changed how websites are built by adding themes. The addition of themes and new modules included a change to the HubSpot template builder. It wasn't a minor change. It was major and it impacted everything under the hood of HubSpot websites. The biggest impact was changing the template editor from the drag and drop you see here in this post with the coded template editor that supports the new page editor. It all can get quite confusing and I wrote about it in this post here. Association labels in #HubSpot are great except for one thing: you can't filter records that don't have an association with a specific label. For example, let's say you use association labels to track referrals. Want to see all the contacts who HAVE referred someone? Easy. But if you want to see all the contacts who HAVEN'T, things get complicated. Here's the 2-step workaround you can use for lists, index views, workflow triggers, workflow branch logic, pipeline tags, and reports: 1) Create a list of all objects associated to an object with the correct label where the record ID is known (essentially the opposite of what you're looking to end up with). 2) Wherever you want to include records that aren't associated to an object with that label, use a list membership filter that includes records not on the list you created in the first step. Use this workaround to automatically flag all deals with no associated decision maker using the step-by-step instructions in my latest edition of The Orange Admin newsletter! 🚨 Attention SEO Pros: Google's Latest "Advice" 🚨 Google's Danny Sullivan just dropped some fascinating "guidance" for sites ranking on page one. The gist? If you're already there, don't try to improve. Just... sit tight. 🤔 Key points: - Apparently, trying to move from position 6 to 5 is now "risky" - We should "think three times" before optimizing anything - Making changes could "negatively impact rankings" in future updates To all my competitors (and my clients' competitors): Please, PLEASE take this advice to heart. 😉 Your commitment to standing still is... admirable. Meanwhile, for those of us who understand that SEO is an ongoing process of improvement and adaptation, well... I guess we'll just have to bear the burden of continuous optimization and growth. Google's anti-spam updates are here to stay, but they don't spell doom for your campaigns. If your sales team relies on email outreach, here are a few things to know: 1) Google is "on" your side These changes aren’t meant to start a witch hunt against salespeople. The goal is to improve user experience by weeding out spammers and phishers. You're already miles ahead of the bad guys and in a great position to shine. 2) Play by the rules Familiarize yourself with the key elements of a spam-free email. Ensure your unsubscribe process is seamless, your targeting is focused, and your content is valuable to your audience. This way, you'll avoid raising any red flags and deliver emails that your recipients will want to open. 3) Stay informed Keep your sales team in the loop about other minor changes or updates that Google rolls out. Compliance with fresh updates will determine outreach success in the months to come. Bottom line? These changes will improve your outreach if you target effectively, create relevant messages, and follow good email practices. There's no need to panic if you're doing things right. We all know the pressure to show tons of leads in marketing reports. But hold on, what if we're casting a giant net in a tiny pond? Think about it: Niche Services (Small Pond): You're the best dang fisher (ad optimizer) out there, but there's only so many fish (searchers)." A bigger net (more budget) won't magically create more fish! High-Demand Services (Big Lake): Now, imagine casting your net in a massive lake. Here, a bigger net (more budget) can definitely catch more fish (leads)! The Takeaway: Focusing solely on the number of leads can be misleading, especially for niche services with limited search volume. CRO tip of the day. It is fine to use drag and drop editors to prototype and get things out fast. But once you find something that works, build it natively. You will likely gain a slight lift in conversion rate due to page speed load time--and being able to attain pixel perfect design (vs. clunky looking). #cro #ecommerce #conversionrateoptimization
