IMHO, one addition I'd have to this thread is that beyond having SMART goals, I think there is an unique set of skills that should nurtured among R&D managers: (1) the ability to ask great questions and communicate them persuasively, and (2) the ability to manage a project with the expectation that success is as much about the contribution as it is about successfully ensuring the 'hand-off' to subsequent owners. Great findings can be discovered in the lab, but how to best hand-over that success into subsequent teams that need to take action on it?

Here's how you can get ready for the industry's artificial intelligence surge in Product Marketing.
One way I've been thinking about this is the notion of applied utility to both the user and the builder. What I mean by this is how does the given GenAI use-case genuinely help make something more effective or more efficient (in my case, its often marketers to help them understand marketing effectiveness). The way I've been thinking about this as of late is to first break down the merit of such systems if they can help improve the 3 necessary components of operational rigor that makes or break systems over time: Classification, Automation, and Prediction. Or, as I like to call it, "CAP".
