In its pursuit of a more sustainable leather value chain, Tapestry is working to integrate the positive elements of leather—its #circularity, #longevity, #renewability, and beauty—into every aspect of its brands. While its efforts to acquire rival Capri Holdings continue, Tapestry is committed to increasing its leather sourcing while ensuring that sustainability remains a priority. Lever Style announced our first half 2024 results last week, and I spoke about them on CNBC. Compared to the same period last year, our sales were down 5% to $95.3m while earnings dropped 26% to $4.3m. Our results were heavily affected by the chapter 11 bankruptcy of our key customer Bonobos’s parent company Express Inc. If not for the Express bankruptcy and the resulting held shipment and $2.4m of bad debt provision, we would have yet again hit record revenues and earnings for the 6-month period. This potential performance underscores the strength of our core business and the underlying growth momentum. Express’s bankruptcy is symptomatic of softening consumer demand, which can fall further if the US fails to achieve the coveted soft landing.  Many brands and retailers are feeling the pinch, and an increasing number of them are losing credit insurance coverage. Now is not the time for aggressive organic growth but rather for thoughtful consolidation and strategic alignment. https://lnkd.in/gDMTCqZh

DTC children’s clothing brand Hanna Andersson named former Apple executive Grace Wong as its new brand director, according to a company press release. Boy’s Club. Perhaps no market has been more underserved in jewelry than men. Much to the relief of many a stylish guy, that has been changing due to market demand. Frederick Goldman, Inc., also uses black and blue sapphires to “reflect modern masculinity and sophistication,” says Tom Schwartz, vice president. The brand is known for using all metal types, but its new Fusion collection fuses platinum and gold and allows customers to customize their own rings. Meanwhile, its Chroma collection of precious metal and colorful ceramic rings “pair perfectly with luxury watches,” notes Schwartz. The shoe industry’s top players came out in full force during the FN Summit on Tuesday in New York City. The day-long summit, themed “The Hot List,” centered around several important topics: the hot markets that are driving the industry forward; the retail innovations that are fueling a brick-and-mortar comeback; the AI revolution; and the critical conversation around diversity, equity and inclusion. But across several conversations, brand leaders kept coming back to one major theme: the importance of their people.
