A client recently asked me the following question. "You have been involved with RFID at retail for over 25 years. What is the one sentence that you would use to describe RFID at retail?" Great question. Here was my response: "RFID at retail is like a flashlight in a dark room and it shows you things that you did not know where there." Questions like: Where are the XL shirts for the customer order? How many HP25 printer cartridges do we really have? Why is our shrink so high? Whats in the backroom that should be on the sales floor? Where is the TV for this customer's by online and pick up in store (BOPIS) order? Did we get everything that we paid for during our last receiving? What left the store that did not get paid for? Once you have light to see the problem, solutions become much easier to implement!
