Do you send a compelling thank you note after interviewing?    At Freeman+Leonard, we believe in the power of a well-crafted post-interview thank you email. However, so many that we review fall short of making an impact with hiring managers. Here are some tips to level up your thank you notes:   ✅ Send it within 24-48 hours, ideally the next morning after your interview. ✅ Begin by expressing gratitude for the hiring manager's time. Thank them for their time and the discussion rather than the interview.  ✅ Include the position/title you interviewed for. ✅ Personalize the note by focusing on what stood out in your conversation referencing a specific discussion from the interview. ✅ Share your enthusiasm for the company and role. I've been a fan of Stephen Shapiro's writing since I first read "Best Practices are Stupid" in 2011. His latest, "Pivotal," is a great read, packed with memorable strategic advice and useful frameworks for working through the process of defining your unique differentiators as a business, employee, and person! Stephen has created a wealth of resources over the years, each addition exploring a particular facet of his mission to help build cultures of innovation and growth in greater detail. What must stay the same in a world of constant change? What is your differentiator and WHO gets to define it? How do you ensure this differentiator is understood and lived top-down throughout your organization? "Pivotal" gives you plenty to chew on and left me scribbling in my notebook as I started rethinking my approach to challenges that have been eluding me. I'm consistently surprised by how many organizations fail to understand that compensation always has been, and will continue to be, the primary driver of employment decisions. This is reflected in one of the most common complaints I hear from employers hiring non-exempt workers: "People leave because they can get 50 cents more an hour." This statement is often delivered with a mix of disbelief and disappointment. To some, an additional 50 cents an hour might seem trivial, but in reality, it adds up to over $1,000 a year—money that can go towards expenses like groceries, rent, or even a much-needed family vacation. While I recognize that not every company has the financial flexibility to raise wages, the truth is that if you're consistently losing quality employees over 50 cents an hour, it may be time to reassess the true value of employee retention within your organization.

Data is only as good as the source's ability to capture reliable information and scrubbing it to validate usefulness. When done you then have what you need for actionable direction and the ability to pursue that six sigma journey. It is just like medicine. Blood pressue alone only scratches the surface. That is why so many tests are run to get to root cause and to build a health plan much like a fitness plan.
