I'm so proud of our Raidiant team and the work we do to present Calling All Heroes, one of the largest esports tournaments for women on the planet. These viewership numbers are staggering, with upwards of 60K people watching at any given time. The impact we're making for women and marginalized genders is unmatched. And yet - we struggle to find partners. Honest question - why is that? The amazing partners that we do have recognize that we provide scale, credibility and a meaningful way to reach new communities. Isn't that what marketing is all about - finding new eyeballs to sample and drive loyalty and conversions to your product? These tournaments are the perfect way to "sample" an esports partnership, offering a low-risk, high-reward opportunity to gain the numerous benefits that engaging with this audience can bring to a brand. I have thoughts and I'm genuinely curious for yours (and may be opening up a rabbit hole, but here goes...). With these numbers, why does women's esports struggle to find the right partners - especially given where we are now with traditional sports?

Sandwiched between the conference last week and the BOMA Indiana #tradeshow (among other meetings) this week, I was thrilled to drive down to New Albany today to squeeze in some practice for a large shoot (Regional) at the end of May. Throughout the day, the coach and fellow Shooting Student and I discussed the theme of “trusting the process“. I should point out that we spend a fair amount of time talking about building a process when approaching a pair of clay targets that you have not shot before. The point is not to focus on breaking the target, but to focus on trusting the process first. Like any profession, any hobby, nearly anything we approach in life, many of us focus on the outcome before we ever consider the process by which we will arrive at the outcome we desire. However, when we focus on doing the right thing over, and over, and over again, the right result will eventually happen! I think about the number of times in our business world that I have “lost“ in some way, shape or form. I can always take comfort because I cannot control every outcome. The only time I allow myself to be disappointed is if I had the wrong approach to begin with. The increase in WNBA All-Star voting is crazy. A'ja Wilson was #1 vote getter last year with 96k votes. Caitlin Clark is #1 this year with 700k votes. That's a 629% increase 📈 But what I find more interesting is the growth in YoY same player votes. A'ja Wilson this year was #3 with 607k votes. That's a 532% increase. Obviously Caitlin Clark is helping change the game, but this growth story is much bigger than one player. A few questions I'd love to unpack with the All-Star Vote data: 1) How many of these fans are net new to WNBA database? 2) Is the WNBA interest being picked up internationally? 3) Are votes evenly spread across the same demographics, or is WNBA reaching a certain demographic at a higher rate than ever before? #linkedinsports #sportsbiz #wnba

⚾️🦝💰Major League Baseball has new facility standards to modernize Minor League stadiums. The City of Madison and BallCorps, LLC, the Trash Pandas' parent company, are working through what they'll build - and who's paying for what. I couldn't fit the whole night's worth of details in an under-2-minute package (local broadcast television is not a longform-friendly medium). I hope the following serves as useful context and more info. --- The City of Madison looking to make the cheapest and, in the words of Mayor Paul Finley, “least invasive” renovation of existing area and constructing new, MLB-compliant baseball space (visitors clubhouse, bullpen, etc.) The City of Madison's facilities office ran the numbers on 3 options: 1.) do the MLB-required maintenance and renovations, costing Madison about $4 million 2.) MLB requirements + build 1-story building with 7 suites, costing Madison about $7 million 3.) MLB requirements + build 4-story building with 7 suites and utility space, costing Madison about $25 million Option 1, the MLB-mandated renovations/upgrades, is happening. Now, it’s a question of how much will that cost the city, how much will BallCorps pay for it, and what other amenities, if anything, gets built, too. An unofficial vote was taken to get a sense of who supported which plan. Option 3 earned 4/7 votes + vocal support from mayor Paul Finley. He doesn't have an actual, official vote on it and iterated it came from his personal point of view, not as mayor, either. Today's spotlight is Andrew C. who is an Inside Sales Representative with the Chicago White Sox! Andrew shared insights on what he finds most rewarding about his job, what inspired him to begin a career in sports, and his go-to ballpark food! 1) What inspired you to originally pursue a career within the sports industry? As a kid I was never that great of an athlete but always was passionate about sales and making meaningful connections with people. So, sports were the perfect fit for me! 2) What is the portion of your job that you find to be the most rewarding? There are chances in this job where you are able to create lifelong memories for people. Whether that is upgrading someone to seats they have never sat at or opportunities to create lifelong memories. 3) Where do you feel you've grown the most since joining the White Sox? I would say the power of looking beyond wins and losses. Of course, the season has not gone the way the White Sox wanted but it has been a powerful learning experience. There is still value in coming to the ballpark no matter what the teams record is. 4) How do you maintain a positive work-life balance when working in an industry that has such an inconsistent schedule? I would say that a year ago I was helping manage a deli in Boston and now work for a professional sports team. I have so much respect for people that work in the food industry. It has made me realize how lucky I am and that there is no reason to be negative. 5) If you could instantly become an expert at any skill, what would you pick? I would say writing. I currently have a blog, but it is a dream of mine to release a book one of these days. 6) What is your go-to ballpark food during a game day? I really enjoy a polish sausage and griddled onions and yellow mustard.

Something new we are implementing here at the Red Wings this year is a photo shooting location sign-in sheet. What this allows us to do: 1. It ensures that all of our photographers are getting different angles of the same shots. 2. It helps reduce clutter in our small photo wells. 3. It allows our photographers to have prime shooting locations when we have busy media nights. 4. It helps our PR team know where all outside photographers and media are located by having them sign into the empty shooting locations.

WNBA Motion Tracking, whether through R packages such as "trackR", or even Adobe After Effects, can help determine defensive double-team rates on certain positions. Can then correlate those rates with archetypes of the opposing players, such as height, weight or box score stats. Further improving analytics to aid in sports wagering.
