I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the various models within the DSO landscape. The traditional DSO model, the Dental Partnership Organization (DPO), and the Dental Partnership Group (DPG)—each of these structures offer different benefits, but also come with their own sets of challenges. The traditional DSO model has been around for a while, offering centralized ownership and management across multiple practices. It’s a great fit for those who want efficiency, scalability, and streamlined operations. But as with anything, it’s not without its challenges, especially when it comes to maintaining the unique culture of each practice under a centralized system. Then we have Dental Partnership Organizations (DPOs), which operate with a more collaborative approach. In this model, the dentist still maintains a level of ownership, but the DSO offers guidance and operational support. The benefit here is that dentists can have more autonomy while still gaining the operational expertise needed to scale. However, it may require a bit more effort on the DSO’s part to manage diverse business models. And let’s not forget the rise of Dental Partnership Groups (DPGs), which are gaining traction as a more flexible option for groups of dental professionals looking for a mix of independence and support. This model often provides more of a “partnership” style of management, where dentists are more involved in decision-making, but they still receive the operational and business backing needed to grow. As the industry continues to evolve, new models are emerging every day. The key is to understand what will work best for your goals and vision. Exclusive territories lifts up the aesthetic medical industry. It creates value for patients, physicians, and device manufacturers. -Patients They have a brand that they can trust. There is a lot of noise in hair restoration. Patients need medical professionals they can trust to deliver the right program for their needs. At the July Dykema DSO Industry Group meeting in Denver the conversation steered toward DSO same store growth. But where to start? There's no reason for 80% of most common dental problems to exist. If you know a few rules, formulas, truths, etc., you can develop effective systems to fight dental problems on your own. For example, knowing tooth decay is a microbial disease and that sugar does not directly cause decay suddenly explains why people get decay despite avoiding sweets and sodas. It's because the decay germs prefer carbs, which can also be pasta, rice, potatoes, pretzels, fruits, -- almost any carbs -- except possibly pure fiber and the most complex carbs. Now you know another reason to add fiber to your diet -- it's not just for your gut. BTW, there are a few sweets that actually fight decay, or at least don't feed the decay germs: erythritol, xylitol, monk fruit, stevia, glycine (amino acid), glycerin. Also, everyone makes a big deal about SUGAR! But does anyone know what your gum disease germs eat? -- It's mainly PROTEINS AND AMINO ACIDS! This means gum disease germs mainly eat YOU -- 24/7/365/Life! Now it makes sense why gum disease affects 47.2% of adults aged 30 years and older, and 70.1% of adults 65 years and older! Their germs have been attacking their gums nearly all day, every day, their whole life. If you knew your eyes would become damaged within 15 minutes of exposure to sunlight, would you wear sunglasses only 2 minutes twice a day? We just had a solar eclipse, and everyone was warned about looking at the SUN without wearing special sunglasses, even for a short time. But is anyone warning you that your teeth are subject to decay within just two minutes of eating most carbs! And the decay process lasts about an hour! Hardly anyone seems to know this, despite the dental profession knowing for nearly 80 years!! Folks, along with access to care and affordable dental care and better insurance -- you mainly need knowledge! I've never had dental insurance and I never will have it. My "insurance" is my dental knowledge that I learned in 1982 in dental school, and was known at least since 1945 to the dental profession. But somehow, it's not been transmitted to the public well enough. Follow me and you'll learn how to develop your own dental "insurance" with mouth-body fitness.
