Patient-led care means putting patients at the center of decision-making and providing them with the information and tools they need to make informed decisions about their health. While we always say that patients are the center of what we do, fragmentation and shifting priorities can make true patient-led care difficult to achieve.

"Thin Yellow Line" follows an investigation into the illegal organ harvest and murder of a patient at John Sealy Hospital on the barrier island of Galveston off the Texas coast. Luke Donovan, a seasoned, by-the-book FBI agent reaches a turning point as he discovers he’s fallen in love with his chief suspect Dr. Jeanine Hunter; a mysterious young physician who has captivated him and may be smuggling organs to a South American crime lord.

It’s the hot, steamy summer of 1990 and Luke Donovan, was hand picked to lead a small team of FBI agents to solve the crime. Unbeknownst to Donovan, he is being manipulated by a political machine nested in the United States’ Justice Department. In order to investigate Dr. Hunter, he immerses himself into her world of sleepless nights, long hours, personal sacrifices and momentous life changes. He witnesses her total devotion to her craft. Simultaneously, Dr. Hunter’s world is completely turned upside down as she realizes she is being accused of a heinous crime. Thin Yellow Line is a story of her personal journey as a woman and as a physician. Along the way, she must address the demons of her past while having to trust a man who could send her to prison for the rest of her life. These characters try to form a relationship under the surveillance of the Justice Department. Dr. Hunter must endure life as a resident physician and survive the sinister world of narco-terrorism. Galveston Island, with its rich history and tropical tumultuous weather, becomes as much of a character in the novel as its inhabitants.

"Thin Yellow Line" is available on Amazon as a paperback or Kindle version. It is available at www.smashwords.com for all other electronic book ereaders.

I particularly look forward to creating CHI's Central Appeals Unit. This wonderful organization that gives so much charitably is deserving of a process that will appeal and overturn inappropriate Medicare denials. I am working closely with my manager and engaging experts in the field to create a substantial and sustainable process that will honor this organization and its values while supporting its revenue cycle.

  • Operationalize Inpatient Rehabilitation Appeals Process for EHR

    -

In this role, I reviewed CMS' regulations and worked with EHR's Regulatory team to create our Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) appeals process. This process required constant evaluation and reevaluation to respond to market changes and provide the best possible product for our client's needs.
