Here's how you can conquer the challenges of working alone as a self-employed B2B marketing professional.
At my first professional trade show, the DMA in New Orleans, I was a Business Development representative tasked with meeting new people. Overwhelmed as I walked the show floor, I set a seemingly impossible goal: I wanted to know at least one person in every aisle I walked down within three years. As the week progressed and I grew more comfortable, I realized this goal was achievable. Looking back nearly 20 years later, I’m incredibly grateful for that initial feeling of being overwhelmed. It helped me unlock my personality and, more importantly, allowed me to set and achieve a meaningful goal. Building a network has three important components: 1. Authenticity (be yourself) 2. Courageousness (approach anyone) 3. Consistency (follow-up).

You're interviewing with a company. How can you make sure you know their brand inside and out?
When you zoom out, you will notice all organizations have a ground game and an air game. @Adam MacLennan did a great job explaining the ground game. Consider the air game PR, Social Media posts, and Glassdoor reviews. Learn how the communicate with the market, and how they deliver both good and bad news. Ask ChatGPT & Gemini. Maybe you will uncover something relatively obvious but you haven’t come across yet. Try to figure out if they use an agency, and if so; what is their agency known for (Performance Marketing, Branding, Online, Offline, etc).
