MILWAUKEE, WI / OTIE (Oneida Total Integrated Enterprises) is currently lead designer on a Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) wastewater construction project in the Milwaukee area. The primary goal of the project is to reduce the risk of overflows in the immediate service area. The North 35th Street and West Roosevelt Drive intersection is one of the most active overflow areas, over the last 10 years, and the goal of reducing the excess wastewater level and recurrent flooding in the area is closer to its final goal. Conserve water now to reduce the amount entering municipal sewers: • Delay showers and baths • Flush less frequently • Wait to run the dishwasher or washing machine Flooding and sewer backups can happen for a variety of reasons, ranging from conveyance of water flow in local pipes, the groundwater table, undersized drainage designs and roof loads, and sump pumps attached to house lines.
