True this 👇 — I see 10 AI demos a week in our venture studio, Nobody Studios The majority of "products" are automated workflows of extreme simplified, happy path scenarios. 👀 AI systems are not like traditional software - they are inherently unpredictable. As product managers, we need to shift our mindset when building AI-powered products. The old approach of just executing happy path user scenarios doesn't work. AI systems don't behave deterministically - they will take unexpected actions that can be unsafe or untrue. The key is defining clear boundaries and feedback mechanisms. We need to be vigilant in monitoring the AI's outputs, even for complex workflows. Don't just blindly trust the results, no matter how impressive the demo looks. The reality is, turning AI into a real production system that delivers value is incredibly hard. We have to rethink how we design, build and manage these non-deterministic technologies. It's time for a new playbook for product managers working with AI.

The NTIA/Verisign Cooperative Agreement for .Com impacts the fundamental workings of the Internet infrastructure and US digital sovereignty. This article in Circle ID from last week sums up the problems of the Internet Plumbing Monopolies. Is Verisign a Monopoly? Does It Matter? https://lnkd.in/eQ2UrGu4 Here is my response to the article: Your arguments regarding the price of .com are logical; however, the issue of Verisign’s monopoly extends beyond just .com pricing. It also concerns the monopoly power that Verisign holds within the DNS ecosystem, a power given it through the NTIA Cooperative Agreement and Amendment 35 without any US public or Congressional input or oversight. This monopoly power has significant implications for undermining ICANN’s “multi-stakeholder” process. We have seen this in several instances, such as Verisign’s failure to implement a “Thick WHOIS,” despite being an agreed-upon consensus “multi-stakeholder” policy of ICANN back in 2016 (and now required as part of NIS2). Furthermore, Verisign has collaborated with other “contracted parties” to narrow the definition of DNS Abuse by excluding CSAM and IP violations even though the US and EU DNS Abuse definitions include both. Even more troubling is that Verisign has been colluding with ICANN to secure its policy objectives that are counter to the protection of US cybersecurity and consumer/child protection. This has occurred through bilateral contract negotiations - such as those involving .com price increases, DNS Abuse definition, and blocking efforts to ensure an open, accurate, and accessible WHOIS - and ICANN policies involving NIS2 and the US cybersecurity reporting law (CISA). #versign #icann #whois #darkwhois #internetplumbingmonopolies #nationalsecurity #cybersecurity

The Qwen2 series from Alibaba Group focuses on efficient parameter usage in large language models, offering foundational and instruction-tuned models with parameters ranging from 0.5 billion to 72 billion. This series demonstrates improved performance over its predecessor, Qwen1.5, and competes effectively with proprietary models across a variety of benchmarks, including language understanding, generation, multilingual capabilities, coding, mathematics, and reasoning.   The flagship model, Qwen2-72B, achieves impressive benchmark scores: 84.2 on MMLU, 37.9 on GPQA, 64.6 on HumanEval, 89.5 on GSM8K, and 82.4 on BBH. Its instruction-tuned variant, Qwen2-72B-Instruct, also shows strong performance with scores of 9.1 on MT-Bench, 48.1 on Arena-Hard, and 35.7 on LiveCodeBench. The series supports around 30 languages, including widely spoken languages such as English, Chinese, and Spanish.   To promote accessibility and innovation, the model weights for Qwen2 are available on platforms like Hugging Face and ModelScope, along with additional resources on GitHub. Built on the Transformer architecture, the series features both dense models and a Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) model, employing advanced techniques such as Grouped Query Attention and Dual Chunk Attention to enhance performance and extend context capabilities. The pre-training phase utilized over 7 trillion tokens, significantly boosting its coding and mathematics skills.   Post-training processes included supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning from human feedback, aligning the models more closely with human preferences and enhancing their instruction-following capabilities.
