Pushpa 2: The Rule – A Reflection on Entertainment, Escapism, and Balance The movie Pushpa 2: The Rule has emerged as a massive success, amassing over ₹1500 crore in revenue. Yet, beneath this triumph lies a troubling phenomenon. The already wealthy have, in essence, drawn this wealth from the pockets of the less privileged. Among those flocking to the cinemas, a portion undoubtedly belongs to lower-income groups. Viewed strictly as a business transaction, it appears fair—money is exchanged for entertainment. But is it really so different from the sale of a drug? A drug offers fleeting relief, a temporary escape, much like a movie that lifts spirits momentarily, only to leave its audience no better than before. Actors, directors, and producers carve out careers of extraordinary wealth and acclaim, while the audiences they captivate often walk away with little but an empty glow. Some go so far as to idolize these stars, immersing themselves in their songs, scenes, and performances, wasting hours replaying them on platforms like YouTube. Time slips away, and with it, their potential to rise in their own lives. It’s as though the entertainment industry peddles a subtle sedative, lulling the masses into complacency, ensuring they find solace in illusion rather than seeking fulfillment in reality. This pattern extends far beyond cinema. Sports, too, belong to this grand edifice of distraction. While it’s perfectly acceptable for movie stars and athletes to pursue their professions and build careers, the unintended consequence is that many among us grow numb, lost in the spectacle, failing to nurture our own aspirations and achievements. So, what is the answer? Should we abandon movies, sports, and entertainment altogether? Such a notion feels extreme, even joyless. After all, life requires moments of lightness, of delight. The solution, then, lies in vigilance—a deliberate awareness of how we engage with entertainment. Here, the concept of selfishness takes an unexpected turn. Often seen as a vice, selfishness can be reimagined as a virtue when rightly directed. Consider the office worker who toils diligently, aiming for career advancement or a well-earned promotion. This, too, is a form of selfishness—a positive one, rooted in growth and reward. In the same way, we must approach entertainment with constructive selfishness. Let it serve us when needed—when the body and mind are weary from honest labor. There is no harm in indulging in a film or a match after a long day’s work. Sometimes, the best entertainment finds us serendipitously—a compelling series on Netflix or a thrilling Manchester United vs. Arsenal game. These moments feel almost orchestrated by the universe, arriving as gifts when we need them most, a quiet synchronicity affirming that we deserve a little joy. The key is balance: to let entertainment enrich our lives without letting it consume them, to savor it as a spice, not a staple. #pushpa2 #pushpa2therule

The Indian government document that "Invites Applications for Empanelment of Agencies to Provide AI Services on Cloud" https://lnkd.in/dhaT-QgA solidifies the notion of sovereign AI. Every major economy is going to mandate AI clouds for government departments and sensitive industries to be on their soil. This is going to create a massive growth of GPUaaS providers around the world, each catering to the unique requirements of their citizens. On a separate note, I was very impressed with the document. The GPUaaS requirements are outlined in a very lucid and succinct manner. After staying in hospital (for last few days) to attend some personal emergency, few things I realised again: Whatever level of #Digitalisation and #IntelligenceBuilding we all in #TechnologyField may claim to have achieved as part of #DigitalIndia #MakeInIndia #IndiaAI etc., few things cannot be digitalised here even in next 5 years (unless a forced bill like one created by #KarnatakaOnEmployment get passed): E.g. * #ABHA (#AyushmanBharat Digital Mission) was launched on 27th Sept 2021 but still finding health records of any patient / citizen of the country (via #ABHAID) is going to be hard for the #GovernmentOfIndia / #NationalHealthAuthority https://lnkd.in/gmQ-5GqT * Government even has been #rewarding Hospitals, Clinics, Diagnostic Labs etc. if they adopt technology quickly (and push health-records back into ABHA servers) but folks just didn't want to do it - for both reasonable reasons (operational efficiency, bandwidth, priority for themselves and their business) as well as wrong intentions (e.g. fear of being penalised just in case they commit any mistake during treatment / testing, etc. or do redundant test / treatment / surgery etc. w/o a need etc.) * But on top of it, there is also one more practical problem at ground level (nurses, cleaning staff, duty doctors, etc. etc.) - the # of pages of documentation and book-keeping they do is enormous. For a single patient admitted in IPD, they need to maintain anywhere b/w 50-100 page records and filling that up and updating it on daily basis at a speed, is a "real pain" but it's a "very important part of treatment". * Expecting each non-tech-savvy nurse or staff (who may be taking care of anywhere between 5 to 20 beds and context switching quickly based on need / emergency) to fill it in a tablet / mobile / etc. may be too much of an ask. (While countries like US / UAE may be fully digital w.r.t HealthRecords today). * But the data these nursing staffs collect on each day on those papers is so critical from healthcare point of view, if a patient needs to be diagnosed / analysed / treated properly, faster and at min cost and if preventive measures need to be taken (for detecting and treating his/her and even others' future ailments) by analysing health-patterns (in the world of #AI / #ML etc.). Would have helped if #GovernmentOfIndia standardises these #HealthSoftwares and then gives & trains institutions (Hospitals, Clinics, Diagnostic Labs etc.) for #FREE and mandates them to migrate existing records to these systems in within next 6 months, else #CancelLicenses? Of course, Marketing / Sales / Service / Revenue numbers are separate from HealthCareRecords, hence institutions would maintain their business privacies. What govt. is asking for is just "data" which in a country like India can solve so many critical problems and may also be the source of tremendous growth in GDP by paving ways to newer avenues & businesses. I stand with NASSCOM on this pressing issue. Bangalore's future looks promising as the industry's firm stance prompts politicians to reconsider. Surprisingly, other political parties remain silent, opting for a wait-and-see approach.
