RLM, OMG. Setting up products, bundles, and attributes is initially more complicated than working in CPQ. But once the basics are set up, they're composable, so that's pretty cool. Like you can set up four attributes, assign them to a category, and then assign the category to multiple products. They'll all get the four attributes. But then you need to set up the system to allow you to add the products to quotes, and price them. And that's where it gets hairy (hoary?) fast. SO much to do in both front end and back end. Lots of data entry and mapping in both front end and back end. I've spent two days trying to be able to get a price for and add a simple product to a quote, with unadjusted list prices. And you have to know, for example, that if you want to output the List Price, you have to map it to NetUnitPrice. Or if you want to set up Quantity as an input variable, you have to map it to LineItemQuantity. What? Yeah. If you don't KNOW that upfront, you won't be able to set it up. Because entering "quantity" won't call up LineItemQuantity. You HAVE to enter "line" to find it. How do you learn these things? I do not know. Configuring logic to deal with price adjustments and unique price tables gets exceedingly complex very fast. Sure, it's powerful, and sure, you can compose multiple price models. But it's crazy hard to figure out how to make them work together. This feels like it'll be a year-long learning curve to be able to get a business of standard complexity set up. I can't really imagine how I'd use RLM for some of the more complicated orgs I've done -- or how much longer it would take. Maybe I'd feel less daunted if I were a coder.
