  The partnership between Dow and Procter & Gamble is a great example of how #TeamDow is driving innovation and collaboration across the materials ecosystem.     By increasing the recycling of plastic and renewable waste, we are creating new markets and applications for recycled plastics.

California Proposition 65 Enforcement for October 2024: - Slight uptick in NOV vs. last month (475 vs. 447), - Cosmetics are still very frequently targeted for DEA - one published settlement for a cleanser was for ~$22,500 (which was likely avoidable!) - Ongoing trend of restaurants being targeted for not providing warnings in relation to alcoholic beverages, - PFOA/PFOS is being found in various types of products – this trend is expected to continue! #prop65 #proposition65 #prop65madesimple

During my two-month quiet period on LinkedIn and while transitioning my role to my successors, Frederic and Johann, I’ve reconnected with longtime friends and colleagues around the world, from the USA, Mexico, Europe, Turkey, the Middle East, India, China, and Japan 🌍⛵. I just finished SAPIENS, A Brief History of Humankind, by Yurval Noah Harari. A few interesting parts, but the writing is a bit flat and the darkness of its overall premise that life is meaningless, the human race has generally been destructive to all other life, and humanity is “a race of irresponsible gods who don’t know what they want” overshadows the history telling of humanity in the book. This guy must be a hoot at parties. My advice for this genre of book is to stick with Bill Bryson’s “A Brief History of Nearly Everything”. Even if you’re not a water-treatment “insider,” you’ve probably heard about “forever” chemicals – the Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl (PFA) chemicals that for decades have given us the attributes we expect in clothing, cookware, and many other everyday items. However, these man-made chemicals do not break down (hence the term “forever”), raising concern over their presence in drinking water. Recently, researchers have identified bacteria with an appetite for PFAs. (Don’t underestimate the mighty power of microbes: not only are they used in wastewater treatment, but they’re also literally eating away the Titanic wreck.) We must remember that we can’t simply regulate an existing problem but can innovate away from it.
