While Tan promotes Broadcom's shift to a subscription model, CISPE criticizes price hikes and unfair licensing terms. Cloud services provider Civo supports CISPE, highlighting customer concerns over increased costs and uncertainty post-acquisition. The mystique of the cloud is undermined by unfair licensing CISPE criticizes Broadcom's subscription licensing model, labeling it as "anti-cloud." Unlike typical pay-as-you-go models, partners are required to commit upfront for virtualization capacity, regardless of actual usage. This shift from consumption-based to upfront commitments undermines the flexibility and value of public cloud services. Mingorance compares it to prepaying for unused taxis, highlighting the unfairness of the practice. Broadcom’s insulting offer CISPE denounces Broadcom's offer of zero-day patch support for perpetual license customers as "insulting."
