Genuine Candidates [email protected] Sr. FinOps Engine Rate : $65 - Remote only Description: As a Cloud FinOps Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our cloud expenditures, ensuring cost efficiency, and supporting financial operations within our cloud environments. You will leverage your expertise in Apptio Cloudability and cloud cost optimization strategies to provide actionable insights, drive cost-saving initiatives, and enhance financial governance. Qualifications: • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, Google Cloud Associate). • Experience with other FinOps tools and platforms. • Knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices. • Relevant certifications in FinOps (FinOps Certified Practitioner, FinOps Certified Engineer, FinOps Certified Professional) • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Proven experience as a Cloud FinOps Specialist or in a similar role with a focus on cloud cost management and optimization. • Hands-on experience with Apptio Cloudability and other cloud cost management tools. • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing models. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams. • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: 1. Cloud Cost Management: • Monitor, analyze, and report on cloud spending and usage across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). • Implement cost optimization strategies to reduce cloud expenditures without compromising performance or reliability. 2. Apptio Cloudability Utilization: • Configure and maintain Apptio Cloudability to provide accurate cost reporting and allocation. • Develop and generate custom reports and dashboards to track cloud spending and identify cost-saving opportunities. 3. Financial Governance: • Establish and enforce cloud cost governance policies and best practices. • Collaborate with finance, procurement, and technical teams to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and chargeback processes. 4. Cost Optimization Initiatives: • Identify and execute initiatives to optimize cloud usage, including rightsizing, reserved instances, and unused resource cleanup. • Continuously evaluate and recommend new tools and techniques for cost optimization. 5. Stakeholder Collaboration: • Work closely with engineering, DevOps, and other teams to promote cost-aware development and operational practices. • Communicate cloud cost insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders. 6. Cloud Vendor Management: • Manage relationships with cloud service providers, ensuring optimal pricing and contract terms. • Stay updated on the latest cloud pricing models, discounts, and service offerings.

Education & Experience ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required. ● 8+ years of experience supporting production web applications required. ● 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform preferred. ● 3+ years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure preferred. ● Experience with bash/python or other scripting languages required. ● Experience with dependency/build tools (such as gradle/npm) required. Competency ● You communicate well whether you’re getting requirements from a stakeholder, writing those specifications, explaining a design to your colleagues, or patiently helping other engineers. ● Demonstrated ability to analyze a request and design robust solutions. ● You write well-designed code that you and others will find easy to understand and modify six months from now. ● Demonstrated ability to review code and specifications ensuring high quality standards of other engineer’s stories. ● Mastery of Linux commands and tools. ● Mastery of cloud providers (AWS, Google) and infrastructure as code (terraform). ● Mastery of containerization (Docker/Kubernetes). ● You’re passionate about great code design, security, performance, and testing. ● You pride yourself on understanding projects top to bottom. ● You’re comfortable working in a team where each of us has a huge impact and we depend on each other to get things done. ● You enjoy working alone or working with others. You’re comfortable doing things even when you’re not told exactly what to do. ● You like helping others on things that have nothing to do with your project.
