🎉 Really excited about this one.... An interesting thing is happening in the performance marketing ecosystem: digital media has become slower and more aggregated in terms of feedback, while OOH and DOOH have become more granular with faster reporting, meaning there's a 'meeting in the middle' and OOH is earning its rightful place in the sales funnel. Brand extension gone wrong? Coming off of the controversial extension of the Mustang brand into the EV space (with the Mustang Mach E), Ford Motor Company has found itself in hot water with brand loyalists again with their recent unveiling of the new Ford Capri (another 4-door EV). Loyalists argue that these moves have sullied the legacy of Ford's iconic Mustang and Capri brands while sales may suggest otherwise (2-door Mustang sales remain steady while the Mach-E was one of the top 5 best-selling EVs in the US in 2023). What a trip!  The LA Fall Toy Preview was an interesting experience for me.  As you know, we are not a toy company, but rather a 24 year young media agency focused on play, and the joy of living.  As such,  we approached this show from a different vantage point.  Since this multi week trip was different from the normal trade shows we are accustomed to attending, and significantly longer, we leveraged a two pronged approach:  We balanced new client and vendor meetings (through our partnership with The Toy Association) in our BPMS Meeting Room, at 2250 Imperial (also using this space as our away office) and then we bopped to scheduled meetings, hopscotching from building to building and showroom to showroom, enjoying our front row seat to the innovation for the year ahead.  Beyond our meetings in El Segundo, we had to Uber to meetings off the beaten trail.  Uber was my best friend, as the clock ticked before our next meeting began.  An occasional bop in to In-And-Out Burger was a bonus, and a treat.   It was a long stretch of time away from our NJ office, so organization in scheduling was pivotal to enhancing my productivity.  In addition to well-attended networking events (which I appreciated), and client dinners at some amazing restaurants along the Pacific Coast, I particularly enjoyed the unexpected and organic colleague bump-ins along the way (reminded me of Mody Road).  Seems El Segundo is the new Kowloon.  This trip for me was interesting, fun and productive with room for tweaking as I plan our future visits.  I’m sure it will blossom with each season.  It’s an evolution.  From the looks of it, LA will grow with each visit, with toy buildings budding and the landscape morphing into what is clearly the new Toy Town.   I look forward to revisiting LA...and bumping into you along the way.      #LAFallToyPreview #MediaAgency #Innovation #Networking #ToyTownEvolution #TheToyAssociation

Rip off the band-aid. Honor the heritage. Build new emotional brand connections. Plow away tribalism. Do the hard work. When two companies merge to become one brand, it's usually beneficial for the corporate culture to unify the brand identity with urgency. It's never easy, but it doesn’t need to be difficult. When Carrie Giaimo, Ken Chrisman, and Darcy Curran gave us the opportunity to help build a brand that communicated the competitive advantage created by the combination of Warren Manufacturing and Highline Distribution, we were honored to brand what will be the most omnipresent automotive brand in the aftermarket: new logo, new mission, new vision, refreshed trade show booth, new merch, new hype videos, new sales materials, new Powerpoint templates, reskinned website , new brand standards, integrated foundational social, and trade show recaps were just some of the projects we sprinted through in 4 months. No ambition too big, no deliverable too small. The collaborative spirit and executional excellence between Highline Warren and the Tattoo Projects team is a real-world-solution to all the click-bait-cliché-LinkedIn-think-pieces stoking fake division between in-house and agency teams. The future of branding isn't "either / or". It will always be "and", and that's what will separate great brands from the sea of sameness. This push demanded every one of our departments, branding, digital, social, production, to directly plug into Highline Warren’s key stakeholders. Nimbly operating hand in glove with the client’s internal teams to reach the same goal. I'm professionally awed by what the teams accomplished, and grateful for the trust and team spirit between all the organizations.
